Hi all,
My daughter will also be P.1 student of Pui Kiu next year.
However, I am worry about that there's no school bus from Sai Kung town centre to the school. I am a working mum & can't bring her to school.

My daughter is looking forward to studying in Pui Kiu as she said she can bring her own lunchbox then. Silly girl!

昨天下午,驚左一陣,因為收到教育局發出的小一選校通知書,因為我無為小朋友成功選校,叫我去派位中心選校....

嘩..好驚!!!唔係wah???我係培僑交左留位費la! 立即打電話去教育局問下,重驚..佢話無收到培僑通知話收左呢個學生woh! 又話幫我check check再通知我!
我諗都唔係la,打去培僑問下, 校務處check完之後話,無問題!收左喇,重話佢地收到教育局份收生list,都有我小朋友個名,叫我唔使理封信!真係嚇死....

打去教育局28327700, 他們經已有例牌答案, [因為培僑和St. Paul的名單遲了, 無問題.]

Let's look at the facts:
1.  The qualification of teachers are good, actually better than good.
2.  The teachers might have different accents, but nonetheless the are very fluent and professional.
3.  The kids are encouraged to speak in class.

It's not right to say that PK English is not good.  Many students are coming in with good English background.

To be fair, the Putonghua standard of PK students is so remarkable and their improvements are so fast that parents are surprised.

English standard could be significantly better I guess if Math is also taught in English.  Presently Math is taught in PTH.

我唔覺得PKC's English差，不要只聽人說，我親身在參觀PKC時，在走廊找了幾個剛經過的學生跟他們談話，他們都是小三的學生，他們都能以流利的英語跟我對話，而且十分主動。

Yes and my kid has fun in English and drama lessons.

As an ordinary parent, I still want more effort be put in English by school. The reason is NOT that they are not doing well now. They are fine.
It's simply because they are very good in PTh training. That raises expectation of ordinary parents like me. If they could do the same in English training to make the students' standard fly like a rocket, all parents will be relieved.

I have already moved into Shatin and find the busroute is much shorter and cheaper.

歡迎各位加入培僑的大家庭.其實書單上要買的主要是數學書和中文字典,英文沒有特定課本,因為是用Project/Module的形式教,但要有心理準備, 小朋友要看很多英文書,最好申請多幾張公共圖書館的借書證,以便小朋友可以借多些書回家看.我的囝囝今年升二年級,已經買了過百本中英故事書,家中儼如一個小型圖書館.至於中文書,學校是根據國內的的程度而編制,再將之轉為繁體字,由出版商印刷.所以是不可以在外面買到的.中文課本會在開學後,由老師派發給學生.

小女是09G1學生，本人想問有關PKC書包的款式，因本人未能於7月10日回校訂購，而SPI也不能提供相片。而您們會選那一款Oxford 或 Get Set 、大/小碼給子女呢?

8月22日收到的分班通告上已列明第一天穿shirt, 之後穿T-shirt呵, 不用帶文具, 只需帶水及小食則可.

1.Date of Induction Course:

G1 25th Audust, 2009 (Tues) to 28th August, 2009 (Fri)

G2 – G6 25th August, 2009 (Tues) to 27th August, 2009(Thurs)

On 28/08/09 (Friday), G2-G6 students will have the first four lessons according to the timetable. (Timetables will be distributed during the Induction Course.)

On 31/08/09(Monday), all students will attend school for the whole day according to their timetables.

2.Time of school during the Induction Course:
School begins at 08:15 and the dismissal time is 11:30.

3.Special arrangement for the first school day:
a.On 25/08/09 (Tuesday), all G1 and new students will have some activities after school at the mini hall.
b.G1-G5 (2008/2009) students will go to their original classrooms to say farewell and get back their report cards and other belongings.
c.After items (a) and (b), students will go to their new classrooms to meet their new class teachers.

4.Distribution of school uniforms and schoolbags:
The uniform company will come on 25th August (Tuesday) to distribute the school uniforms. On 27th August, schoolbags will be distributed. Please ensure your kids bring the order forms.

5.Expectation of school uniforms:
On 26/08/09 (Wednesday), students have to wear their formal uniform. For the other days, students can wear their normal uniform to school.
On 31/08/09 (Monday) and 01/08/09 (Tuesday), students have to wear their formal uniform to school as it is a photo-taking day and opening ceremony day.
Please ensure students are always neatly attired.

6.Others:
Students need not bring any stationery items back to school during the period of the Induction Course;
G2 to G6 students please prepare their own stationery items;
All students’ personal belongings should be marked with their name and class;
Please ensure your kids know how to leave school every day, especially on the first school day;
Please hand in all documents which have not been submitted on the Registration Day;
Principles of bringing food to school:
Students should bring healthy food to school. Candies, chocolates and soft drinks are not encouraged. The following is the food recommended：
a.Fruit
b.Bread
c. Drinks：fresh water, fruit juice, soya bean milk, milk
Snacks should be suitable for the consumption of one person.

My son was also assigned to 1B, I asked the same question to the school office, and the lady said that it is preferable to have a student photo with the formal uniform, so I took already last night.

I think the school will arrange picture taking with formal uniform shortly. My older son use the picture the school takes. also from the notice ( I sent out earlier ) that ..

so, I think they will take the picture on the coming monday. I recall when my older son take it, the price is very good and it is also a 'sticker-like' picture.

According to the time table, there's lesson om "Chinese Language Art " in addition to "Chinese Language" while "English Performing Arts" in addtion to "English".

Can anyone tell me more about what will be taught in these 2 "Art" lessons? Thanks.

These are performing arts lessons. For the english one, its include drama, singing, role play etc. for the chinese one, its include 快板, 相聲 etc.. this is what Dr Law always emphasis that children have to learn both western and eastern culture.. In Grade 1, they just learn the very fundamental part and also learn how to appreciate these kinds of art presentation. what I know is they let the children on stage very often such as to train their presentation skill and 膽量.

You can find out the answer in the student hand book. Even the primary block, secondary block and all the corridors also are named by different river name and mountain name. It is very funny and educational.

Yes, I think the school will give out soon... BTW, just stay back and relax, the school do give room for children to develop and grow, we do not need to worry at all.
