Knowing that the informal visit for ESF SW K1 started from this week, have anyone got the contract?

We got the contract today, but they offer PM class for us. :cry:

Hi Space: Congratulations, don't be too mind on the PM/AM session although we always prefer AM session. It is a matter how you schedule the time of your kid.
May I know your visit date?

Yes, there is similar procedure as the other ESF kinders, I visited on 19 Jan.

I visited on 20/1, got the contract yesterday (22/1).... a PM session. The school is really efficient and I believe most of those attended the visit should have had an offer.

U have to accept the offer and pay the deposit on or b4 5-Feb with 2 months deposit.

If parents need to pay two months school fee for the deposit, many of them will make up their mind.
I was told that my kid was put in Cat 1. Since they use random selection for the first 200 seats, my kid was not selected.

No, I was not invited to go to the informal visit. I only called the office.

Btw, does anyone know they are in Cat 1 or Cat 2? 'cos the letter didnt indicate about the cat at all.

I didn't ask about this but by its selection criteria, it's logical to assume that we're in Cat 1. Wedid indicate that English is our primary language at home.

We just came back fromt the informal visit this afternoon. I feel very disappointed coz my boy did not perform well. He speaks a lot home but he did not answer/talk to the teacher at school. He even screamed and lied on the floor when we took him away from the toys. I believe one of reasons is the visit took up his nap time and he was sleepy and not in the mood. Anyway, it is what it is. :(

Dont worry.. it was just informal visit for parents to understand about the school. I don't think the teacher did actually give any marks for kids' performance during the visit.

Sorry to say you are wrong. ESF has changed their way in this year.

I went to the so called informal visit yesterday and i found they were checking the ability of each child one by one.

Yes the teacher did try to talk to each child one by one, but the questions were sssssssssso simple,: good afternoon, what's your name, nice to meet you, did you enjoy the fishing.... to see how the child respond and their social style. I really couldn't see they could test the child in terms of ability, but rather I guess they wanted to see how the child interacted in an English environment. e.g. There was a Korean family whose kid kept talking to his mum in Korean, then the teacher spent some time to ask this mum what's the language used at home. To me, the teacher didn't even ask me a single question, it was me who initiated some casual talks with her. I think as long as your child could response to simple questions and greetings in English is adequate. If you could take the initiative to talk to the teacher more, then it showed that your child should have exposed to English environment. Just my 2 cents.

Perhaps you were in SW while i was in TY.

My child needed to sing+giving some toys to play and asking the name of each toy etc...

IC. SW has less fierce competition. They doubled the kinder school size this year after they move to Hillside in Feb.

My kid attended the play visit at TY kinder. Teachers only observed how the kids interact in an English environment. They did chat with the kids but that didn't constitute test of abilities of any kind. My kid observed rather than participated in the singing and dancing. He was offered a place anyway.

I have called the office last 2 weeks. They said second "informal visit" will be held in end of Feb.

I think you have no problem to change to PM session. According from David said, if you want PM class, 99% can get it.
