Take 2 Panadol Extra and then take a nap.
When you wake up, choose the one suit your child and u also feel comfortable with.

Dont know if you are comparing SJS and RC but definitely RC is better on the 'hardware' side. SJS has a longer history and is more traditional than RC so nothing should really go wrong. But then RC will be a more adverturous version and might be good for some. Although SJS has the biggest chinese poplulation among any other ESF schools, I seldom hear its children talking in Cantonese (or any other languages). The school does provide a natural environment for children to communicate in English. As others have said...pick one that you are most comfortable with. I had experience with teachers from both schools and they were equally friendly and professional.. that IS for sure!! I had the same choice 2 years ago and I chose ESF as the RC campus was a bit 'too' big for my daughter. Good luck.

Knowing that ESF primary has so many campuses (about 9 campuses) in addition to PIS, I see they should have enough capacity to absorb all the ESF kinder graduates. How come I heard many parents complain that their kids graduating from ESF kinders may not be able to get a seat in its primary?

Well simply because ESF schools have to accept kids from elsewhere as well.

The reason is simple.
ESF/PIS only grant you priority to the interview. You HAVE TO PASS THE INTERVIEW.

ESF 幼稚園從來都唔係直升 ESF 小學, 係要面試的.
如果唔 PASS 面試, 當然唔會入到 ESF 小學.

Just priority interview. English proficiency, maturity, social skills are evaluated equally amongst candidates. Of course, there's categories and priority within categories.

My personal experience not with RC or SJS is the child will be interviewed by 2 teaching staff and asked to draw something and talk about the drawing. Responsiveness of the child and proficiency in English will be observed. Creativity enhances chances. Priority will be given according to category and if the child has sibling at school.

my friend's son is in secondary section now. At that time, her mum told me that teachers in Beacon Hill are more experienced than in RC.

I heard a few declined the offer of Shatin Junior/Beacon Hill and stayed in RC. Meanwhile, I also heard a few switched to other IS. It depends on oneself.

Well, it's difficult. But I think you should visit them and see which one you feel more comfort with. I think different parent will pick different school, so pick the one you think it suits your kid more! and good luck on your choice

Could you share which kinder is your kid studying, esf kinder? and do you mean SJS? well, do you know SJS picks students from?

the main problem is you are not studying in real international kinder.efs prefer students from real inter kinder

My son will study N1 in TT next year, but I am thinking which kinder I should choose after N1...
My choice is ICS, TT or ESF WKS kinder...

My P1 choise is first SJS and second RC

No confusion at all.

ESF primary (and PIS too) need to interview the students. There are always ESF kindergarten children that DID NOT pass the interview.

Even if there are 10000 seats in primary, you are not up to the standard, you will not get a place. Fair enough?

For your information, there are always ESF kindergarten children that get NO OFFER from ESF (and PIS); and at the same time, there are children from local kindergarten that got acceptance offered.

This answer can affect my final decision on the kinder selection, as I mentioned before my kinder choice is TT, ICS and ESF WKS…actually we don’t really like ESF WKS at all…if ESF WKS doesn’t have any advantage during the interview, then I can make up my decision…

Can you give me more advice?

I'm afraid u still have a little bit mixed up regarding ESF/PIS admission procedures.

ESF kinder students do have a priority for an interview offer;

Once u are chosen for interview, I don't think ESF kinder students will have any advantages over other non-ESF kinder students.

The only adantage of being a ESF kinder students are that u will have a very high chance (almost secure) of getting "interview" offer from ESF primary and PIS.

The problem of being non-ESF kinder students (especially u are Cat. 2 w/o siblings) is that u will have a lower chance for getting an interview; no matter how smart u are.

Any extra point for ESF students during inteview? Who knows? even if i send a email to the primary teacher who is responsible for interview, to be politically correctness, her answer must be "No".

I fully understanding about the ESF P1 interview Policy.
Many people had mentioned this policy in this forum before, but how come the total % of ESF kinder students(Cat2) can get into ESF P1 is not that high?I really can't understanding at all...or I have the wrong info?Please correct me....

becuase too many Cat 1, u know even cat 1 non esf student, don't have chance for interview.

It is a riddle.
I only know that staying inside ESF kinder can almost secure (or have a higher chance nowadays) interview offer for ESF primary and PIS.
Whether u can pass or not depend on your performance.

In RC, through my informal gossiping throughout the year, 09/10 Year 1 non-ESF kinder children are not RARE.
In popular ESF primary like KJS/BHS/SJS, children from Cat. 2 non-ESF kinder should be rare.
Regarding 10/11 situation, any parents share?

今年sjs收的150學生, siblings約佔三分之一, esf kinder 學生約佔三分之一, 中國藉(包括香港人)約佔四分之一

三月時老師說 in 咗 200人, 但也選到不到想收的150學生 (估計當時最少仍有20個位)

I think I (and others) have already explained the situation very clearly. Reread all messages.

The fact is simple and have repeatedly been stressed.

Being ESF kindergarten will ONLY give your priority to interview. ESF primary does not have the obligation to take all ESF kindergarten children.

C200, dont worry, ESF WKS is a very good school, my girl is studying there, she loves the school much and can't wait to go to school everyday. She makes alot of friends, the teachers are good, she learns very fast through activities.
The curriculum in ESF kinder is totally different from the local international stream one, which is well-prepared for the IB primary.

Are you asking about ESF primary or RC?

For RC this year, there are 800 applicants for about 200 spaces.

For both RC and ESF, they are obliged to offer interviews to those who have priority to interview first (e.g. ESF kindergarten and other priorities as listed on the admission website). First round interview starts in January. Interviews continue until all spaces are filled.

I think you made the right choice. In my opinion, ESF WKS is far better than TT. We are in an ESF kindy now and my son was in TT nursery. TT seems to be getting more expensive and from less impressive.
