I can only give you comments for Kentville, it really helps the children to get really for future learning, and buile up a good attitude and love to go to school. Even when they are learning so much at a time, they still enjoyed it.

You're right, good attitude and behaviour are important too. My edler child is in primary now, and it seems that the kids graduated from KV are always peform pretty well too.

If you're going to let your kid study in a traditional primary school, I'm sure KV should be your choice. It not only lays a solid academic foundation for your kid, but also fosters good learning habits for your kid.

Most likely I will go for KV, and reject HKPS's offer this morning. As my son was born in 2007, I hope it will be a right choice to let him repeat K1 in KV.

depends on what type of primary schools you are looking for:

傳統小學 ->KV

直資/雙語 -> HKPS

Update:

I got:

1) K1 pm offer from KV, and
2) K2 pm (Eng/PTH) offer from KLN Tong HKPS.

My son has completed K1. There is a risk to repeat K1 and KV's tremendous amount of homework starting from K2 really scares me.

But because of the good reputation of KV, it is a difficult decision to give up KV offer.

Please help.

Your son is small son?? If HKPS offer him Eng/Pth class, then his pefermance seems good and NO need to repeat K1.

KV's K2 homework start increasing but normally kids can manage to do it by themselves, happily.
But your case is really a difficult situation to choose...May I ask which Kinder did your child finish K1 in?

He completed K1 in a small / not famous KG.

In that case, (only my own opinion), it is still worth repeating K1 in KV wor. Since may give him a year to adopt in the new school, in K1 1st term, they mainly teach child to behave and let them get ready to absorb. Also, I think learning Chinese in an earlier age will be much more easier. And I don't think your son will feel 'bored' then.

If your kid is small BB then it is not worse to repeat K1 in KV.
But if he already in K1 now, I would suggest to stay in HKPS for K2.
Although KV is an excellent trainer, but no need to let him to retain K1.

If I go for KV, I must bear in mind the followings:

1) since more babies were born in 2008 than in 2007, application / admission for K1 in 2014 is more challenging.

2) speaking English / PTH is weak in KV if comparing to HKPS.

3) school bus has no seat belt but my son must sleep after school at 5 pm.

4) school bus arrives my home at 5:40 pm which is at least 1 hour later than HKPS.

5) if my son cannot get used to KV, he has to complete 1 school year then apply K2 in another school which is the worst case I don't want to face.

I sent a letter to KV requesting am session but I know there is almost no chance.

I might send a letter to HKPS but the result may be the same.

It will be easier for me to decide which one I choose if either one offers am session.

Any comments?

You are right about the competition in P1 is greater every year. Having read the concerns you have, may be it is not wise repeating K1. Just to let you know, now is already July, the chance of switching to am is very slim in KV.
Don't worry, HKPS is also a very good school indeed!

Although I am confused and puzzled at the moment, but I should be happy to have both offers which I dared not to expect when I submitted my applications last year. I really feel lucky.

You child should be very smart to have these offers, and I guess he will succeed wherever he goes, wish him all the best.

Thank you for your advice.

1) even if KV offers K2, I won't let my boy to try.  Because he is a small boy and KV's academic level is high.  Without studying K1 in KV, it is difficult for him to get used to everything in school.

2) I think English learning in KV is not easy.  But there is no NET, training on spoken English is rather weak in KV.

3) PTH training is also weak in KV.

4) with the long school bus journey and lots of homework / tests / dictations, chance for other hobbies outside class is less.  Such as swimming, music, drawing, ice-skating, dancing etc... there are so many things kids can learn and enjoy for life time..

Anyone knows more about these 2 campus in terms of area, equipment, attractive decorations, outdoor playground condition.....

根德園有兩個校園(大根德-多實街, 細根德-根德道), 大根德主要有K1, K2 & K3, 細根德只有K1班, 兩間校園都有魚池、滑梯、千秋,單車等。
放心小朋友都喜歡上學, 老師有愛心。
K1 上學期只有連線和油顏色功課, 下學期開始有寫字。

小朋友都能做到!

For any single route, will the same school bus go to both campus? Or KV will arrange one for Kent Rd and another one for Dorset Crescent?
