Dear all,

My son got interviewed today . It was very tiring n time-consuming. There was a long queue for entering the school before interview and also picking up the child after interview.

What's more, my son got a red sticker on his label and he said some of the kids got a blue one. What is the meaning behind? Does red mean fail????

Sigh.. chance is really limited n no hope la

上次我交FORM都可以等左2個鐘,
人多梗架啦，我知道間間都多，但人地系用D好有效率的方法的。
最抵死甘耐原來只是開了2、3個COUNTERS，然後先好慢好慢...到我等左2個鐘的時候先加到7個。

唉!都系O個句..."帶個仔見識一下而已"

I think the situation is better than CCKG in which you need to line up (with another 1000 people) for getting application form and submitting the form. The principal would then interview your child for 1 min!

簡直當我地 d 家長唔係人！我地兩公婆排隊時被蚊狂咬！有個排我地後面既小朋友話急到就忍唔住，個家長問可唔可以先入去廁所，個保安話：「等陣啦！前面排隊果 d 全部都係去廁所架啦！」！

我地係下晝in，成個安排都好差，我地係學校出面排左成半個鐘，學校逐少逐少咁俾d人入去，好彩天氣唔算太熱，但呀仔都出晒汗，仲等到呆晒，好彩佢都好乖咁同我一齊企左30min，無發脾氣！

我離開學校時見到前一批家長又係要排長龍接仔，所以到我接時我無早到，去到d家長已入左去等緊，好彩唔係等好耐就接到個仔走。出奇地呀仔話好好玩，好多野玩，但問佢有咩玩又話唔記得

so far, in左幾間, 呢間的安排最差最差....登記完,佢地就要家長離開校園,夠鐘先返黎接返, 好唔明點解佢地唔可以安排個hall, 或者操場比家長等候呢? 個校園甘大, 點解唔可以比多d人先入黎,唔使搞到塞人塞到落山腳, 對附近出入的居民都做成影響啦....莫非這就是名校的排場??

St Paul coed is also famous school, but their arrangement (information section, handing in the form, interview date) is so much better! No need to wait crazily in line (except hand in the form, yet still very in order)!

Anyways, sounds like not advantageous to go to DB too early?

其實可能呢一"脫"人真係EVERYDAY 都係咁打扮, 好似明星咁, 落街買個包都要DRESS UP + MAKE UP. 可能係好自然既事.

我日日去接放學, 都只係小部份家長係好富泰. 其預既都係普通撲實父母, 另一小部份係BUN 藉司機響山腳等, BUN 藉女傭上山接少爺. 我自己感覺, 3個唔同階層都同樣有, 我仔仔果班都新移民添呢. :X

1) My friend and his boy arrived early and had to line up for 30 minutes at NOON in the street (not allowed to enter the school gate). I chose to arrive 10 minutes before the arrival time --> 15 minutes standing in the street.
2) Luckily we were allowed to use the washroom before the registration.
3) The registration was not too bad today. Parents were asked to leave, as described in the interview notification letter.
4) At pick-up time, again, paretns were not allowed to:
- enter the school premises early ... i.e. line up pls!
- wave at their son before the teacher called his number;
- take photo;
- use their washroom; the teacher asked all the parents to leave the school premises immediately after picking up their son.

Yes, as you said, it's not difficult to improve the process, the point is the school doesn't think it's an issue and hence no intention to change.

From the school administration's point of view, they may say that no one forced you to apply to this school and you don't have to apply. ("See, you are a willing victim.")

From parents' point of view, the primary one admission system is in a mass and no one can afford not to apply to several schools, including a popular one like this school.

So no matter how bad the interview arrangement, it will not directly impact on the number of applicants in the short term.

When nearly everybody complains about the interview arrangement and it still does not impact on the number of applicants, someone may actually feel good. ("See, this is the 'best' school in HK and people will do whatever they can - even at the point of being tortured - to get in.")

Unfortunately, those who feel good are not the same people as whose who suffered from the whole inhuman treatment during the interview.

We have arrived at 8:30 this morning, quene and wait around 30 mins. Then we went to the cover playground and can go to toilet before registration. The flow is quite ok.

I don't usually complain in this forum, but...

usually, in other schools, when the teachers see the children or parents during the registration, they will actively greet the parents or children, or at least, reach out their hands to get the documents.

Not in this school.

This is the first time that I see and feel that the teachers / admin is... not well mannered. We went to very famous schools before, and some not famous ones, but this prestigious school is really 'unique'.

If you expect a smile from them? It is a luxurious request!

Am I asking for too much?

Do the teachers in this prestigious school set good examples for their students in their daily teaching?

Would things change next year as the male headmaster is retiring?

These are my questions!

Sorry to use this forum to say this. But this time, I can't help!

Don't worry, many parents agree with u.

My comment is, this is their style , and for those who can stand for it, may be able to stay. Otherwise ours kids may grow up like them.....

丫仔基本上都講得到晒佢做過 d 乜.
只是有一段小插曲, 就是在接仔時, 我在外等, 見丫仔排緊隊下來, 見到企丫仔後面個小朋友係咁 "兇" 丫仔, 仲要都好惡下, 佢係丫仔後面做左個好似噴口水既動作, 我都打個凸, 見丫仔無理佢, 只係好惡咁回望番佢, 好快有個校工行過黎叫個小朋友行前面 (個校工唔知乜事的, 只是剛剛要佢行去前等放人), 後尾丫仔出黎我問佢乜事, 佢話完晒個interview時個小朋友行佢後面, 但不停同丫仔講佢幾叻幾叻, 不停話佢高過丫仔好勁, 丫仔就乜都好差之類. 我問丫仔果時你點處理, 佢就話同個小朋友講 "你唔好講lee d 野, 係唔岩架" , 之後個小朋友仲不停口, 丫仔就無理佢. 我問佢係唔係真係完晒個 interview 先見到佢, 佢話係..

, 佢地兩個分開左之後就見丫仔同前面個小朋友傾下計咁.

As the whole interview process is finished, I think we can tell the content? pls share if the process is really finished!

p.s. my boy said the whole process was in Cantonese... no Eng question at all, is it true?

交表時等左2個鐘，今日2:45登記但 2:20分到，預左要等所以冇乜 hard feeling，入到去登記過程都好流暢，負責登記的外藉老師好好笑容，登記前老師及校工們會提醒先帶小朋友去洗手間，但老師們都好好笑容哦... 需時大概2小時。

好多學校interview中家長都可以係禮堂等,呢間連操場都唔俾人坐！真係唔明！又要係斜路排隊,有D唔想行上行落就真係企足門口成個鐘!
隔離個男人想入去借廁所，好快出返嚟校工居然話"學校規矩冇得借"下年去in的人記得要去晒先！
全無愛心,不顧及家長感受的學校！不知所謂的學校,考到都一定唔讀！

Laney, your son probably has high chance since he can report back to you in such detailed. Mine cannot. He just told me he watched Tom and Gerry, and no english or PTH question was asked, and he draw a picture with no specific topic (the teacher did not ask him to explain the picture). But he said things are very fast so he cannot remember things in details

My son agreed with what ur son described on the interview content! Draw pic, build Lego, sequencing story cards and then tell the story, follow instruction to act, finally watch Thomas & friends movie! All ar in Cantonese!

I think the procedures are the same, cos my boy also said all activities are in group basis, he even shared some legos with another boy, and for the common sense question, only asked the children (in group) the color of a rainbow (answer one by one according to the alphabet order on the child's card (I dont quite understand my boy's description, he could only tell me he answered 'red'

), and for the drawing and lego building, the teacher didnt ask the boys to describe anything and there was no theme required.....so for those told the parents there was no question at all, they are actually kind of correct cos there was no individual question asked! that's why I really dont know how they choose appropriate aplicants.... may be only by background?? or they already screened b4 the interview so bascially no need to ask too many questions??? or they think through the obs of those activities, they can 'see' the potentials of all the boys??? really dont know!

Laney, did your son say according to alphabet order? then I understand a bit more. I think there is individual question. My kid said they answered (3 boys in his group) questions based on the sequence of the cards. He was in the middle one so he is the second one to answer. But he cannot tell me what the teacher asked him. He just told me he cannot answer one of the three questions. These questions maybe related to numbers, but I cannot understand what he says. (I am not trying to hide, but he seriously cannot tell me!). So I am sure there is one part that has individual session (or, for the least, the boy needs to answer the question only by himself).
But my kid for sure did not say anything about picture sequencing!

我仔仔話上到一個課室,當值老師叫佢地砌LEGO,但係老師無問佢砌左D乜喎…我仔又話無圖書睇, 只有LEGO玩

老師跟住俾左張紙佢地,要佢地響紙上面寫上自己中英文名,然後畫畫,畫乜野都可以喎, 畫完都係無問到野

跟住老師就叫左我仔同埋另外兩個小朋友去左另外一個課室

枱上面放左三張UNO卡,卡面是向下的,老師叫佢地一人抽一張,抽到最大數字果個小朋友可以答先,抽到第二同埋第三果兩個小朋友就要鬥快企起身先可以回答問題

我仔話最遲企起身果個小朋友無得答問題喎, 唔知真定假呢?

跟住老師就播電腦問問題,我仔果題題目係"春天之前是哪一個季節?"

老師然後派俾每個小朋友一張卡, 卡上面有好多空格, 空格的左面由上而下寫左幾個英文字母

枱面上有五至十張細細張的圖卡, e.g雨衣, 毛衣等, 然後老師播電腦, 電腦講出指令, 例如: 將雨衣放在Q第五格, 毛衣放在W第四格.....

聽完指令後, 小朋友就要將D圖卡放響相對應的格仔上面

最後老師又問小朋友點解鍾意來DBSPD讀書喎
