有無爸媽同我一樣，仔女而家響英國upper six, 報緊明年入大學？我個仔會報UCAS, priority 響英國讀大學，但諗住多手準備報埋香港non-JUPAS.

聽日HKUST open day, 我打算幫阿仔去聽吓admission process 同佢想報嗰科嘅資料，你哋有無打算去？

我女兒后年入大學，牛津是不是要提交表格，其餘的大學在后後一月先報？，她準備報牛津的歷史系。

deadline for both oxford and cambridge (u have to choose either one) is earlier in mid Oct.

Only one PS for UCAS. I have never heard of applying 2 Oxford programmes.

yes u are supposed to apply for one subject with the 5 UCAS choices, as only one PS Is allowed and the main point of the PS is to demonstrate your passion in that particular subject.

我仔最想讀materials science 但唔係好多大學有offer this course, 本來佢諗住第五個choice 揀civil engineering, 最後都係寧願揀返materials.

你個女嘅case 比我會英國報history,香港報law, 反正香港嘅history courses 應該爭好遠。

她對回香港讀大學沒有興趣，我也知道在英國law，將來回香港執業很麻煩,又要考pcll，每年過千人爭幾百個位，香港三間大學又優先收本地法律系學生讀pcll，海外生會吃虧一些。我們也在糾結中。

your way doesnt work. 你只可以選擇5個courses (通常係from 5間大學）with 一份personal statement. 所以揀兩科好唔同嘅科會好危險。

係呀我知HKUST 已經接受報名，但阿仔而家響英國忙緊報UCAS,我諗住佢十月中返香港時先報HKUST, 我可以幫下手，或者佢可以自己打去HKUST 問嘢。

另外等NOV 4 HKU open day, too bad 到時阿仔又返咗英國lu, 我又要代佢去。

我女很喜歡Psychology，所以會 focus HKU, CU or maybe CityU。請問你知不知A LEVEL要幾多分香港的大學才有conditional offer. 其實女比較喜歡英國的環境／學習氣氛，留英機會比較大。

我仔UCAS 報Materials Science/Engineering. HKUST 同HKU 報civil/mechanical/Aerospace Engineering (not confirmed yet), psychology 我唔知， HKUST engineering 話要A*AA-A*A*A* 喎。我心諗呢個成績入Oxbridge 或者 Imperial 啦！

我仔都係prefer 英國大學，報香港unis for back up.

提提大家,如果有舊BRP(即係英國讀預科嘅朋友),攞住新visa再入境時最好帶埋舊BRP去。阿囡過immigration時個officer話要收返,我囡冇带,就叫我儘快寄俾佢等佢可以交返去。但係collect new BRP嗰陣又話冇咁嘅規定。

如果記得嘅,到時帶埋去,穩陣D。

據我知中大，港大和科大也有fast track, 截止日期可上綱check, 大學会先看fast track申請，如收錄出offer, 要交留位費10000, 如無offer 同main round 申請人一同考慮，如fast track出offer但學生不接受，main round 亦不会再考慮申請。
CU advance offer (fast track) 11月中截止，regular 1月初截止

理論上是有的，不過實際上分別不大。阿女上年報main round，一樣有早interview。所以今年HKU取消了fast truck。

阿仔同學校今日submit 咗 UCAS 啦，係咪有啲大學好快出conditional offer?

呢到有家長提議HKUST 唔洗入fast track, 可以等main round? 咁做係咪可以等收曬英國啲COs 先考慮cofirm HKUST 嘅CO? 因為阿仔prefer 留英國讀大學，如果係佢心水三間其中一間。

孩子去年十月中前遞交UCAS, 十一月初便已经收到其中一間英国大学的conditional offer, 然后陸陸續續於一月中前便收到全部五間大学的conditional offer. 当时孩子也有報HKUST 的main round, 但只当它是back up。我記得HKUST 係一月中至一月尾出offer 俾孩子，但因為当时已经收到其他英国大学的offer，而孩子的意願是继续留在英国讀書，所以我们也沒有交科大的留位费。

good! your son's case serves as a close reference for my son!
May I ask when did your son apply for UST then if it’s main round?
And, do u mind telling me which uni your son goes eventually?

唔緊要。
係呀阿仔學校oxbridge counselor 都話Cambridge 啲CO 係 tough 好多，尤其science 科目，所以佢好多同學轉呔報Oxford!

Our school counselor says so too. Cambridge offers r tougher to meet so they can give out more offers. I heard that one conditional offer was 45/45.

45/45 as CO is crazy! Oxbridge counsellor at my son’s school also quoted an example of CO being 4A*! Not sure if that’s real or just rumour!

I joked that in such case, maybe this year all applicants turn to Oxford and make it over subscribed and more competitive than Cambridge!!

Do u know about Imperial? What’s the interview rate over total applications and what’s the successful rate for those who’ve got interviews ?

It depends on your child performance while every university has their own schedule to inform their decision to applicants, there is no fixed timeline, all you can do is to check emails frequently!

想請問各位，如報non jupas, IGCSE Eng 已考獲A*，是否一定要考ILETS? 看過香港啲大學網頁，英文的要求是ILETS 或IGCSE 達致某水平，但昨天去中大講座話只睇IELTS，有啲混淆，所以想請教各位！

同意最好考埋 ielts, 有聽過學生考 IB Eng A , 即母語水平，港大亦要求 ielts

有朋友個仔香港non jupas, 報名時無ielts成績, 但後來入讀的中大科目, 課程結構包括到海外大學exchange program, 唔到你唔去, 對方大學要求學生ielts 7分才符合入讀資格, 中大方面原則上已收佢, 但叫佢盡快考番ielts才算正式收咗, 都麻煩

個學生本身亦有IGCSE eng 同IB成績

阿仔返咗嚟已經填好哂HKU 同UST non JUPAS online form. 等埋學校俾predicted grades 同reference (應該係跟UCAS) 就可以submit, 但我有兩個問題 :

1. 個personal statement 緊唔緊要？因為阿仔響英國報materials science 但香港無呢科，佢會報engineering. 佢又想慳皮用UCAS 個PS 改少少就算，都通嘅，但當然無UCAS 個version 咁好。所以想知香港啲Unis 有幾重視PS?

2. 之前提過，其實阿仔strongly prefer 留英國讀大學，香港unis 只係for back up. 所以我cheap cheap 地盡量唔想俾嗰一萬蚊留位費，until confirm 阿仔英國啲offers 唔夠buffer 先俾。咁我應該幾時submit?assume UCAS 嗰邊一月尾前有哂results?

Postpone submitting your son's non JUPAS applications, particularly he is applying for a nowadays not so competitive choice of engineering. Otherwise, when your son receives the conditional offer, he needs to pay a deposit within a short time.

thanks a lot for the advice.
Just got a reminder email from HKU about their main round closing on Nov 16!! Should we catch up with this deadline or a later one? I will go to their open day on my son’s behalf (he will be back to UK) on Nov 4 to find out more.

有聽過non jupas比 jupas重視personal statement, 朋友孩子英國同香港申請同一科，只把PS內UK改HK，有收港大offer. 我会main round 截止前申請，non jupas有時比較遲才出offer

There were fast track and main round applications before. It seems there is only main round this year. But HKU's website has the following notes:
*Late applications will be accepted after the Main Round application deadline and before 12:00 noon, July 15, 2018 (Hong Kong Time).
**Only students who have submitted an application by the Main Round application deadline will be considered for interviews between December 2017 to January 2018. Interviews for late applicants will be considered on a case by case basis. Separate email invitation to interview will be sent to shortlisted students.
^Students who receive an offer of admission are normally required to accept the offer within two to three weeks.

Again, as engineering is not very competitive nowadays and interview is not normally mandatory, "late applications" may be considered if unwilling to pay the deposit at an unnecessarily early stage. Better ask on the information day of course.

Ya I think my son will apply by deadlines for main round both for HKU and UST.

Regarding the PS, it is a bit “tricky” as he applies for Materials Science in UK but Civil Eng in HK, as his PS is tailored for MatSci, it seems not that strong by just tweaking it for CivEng. But anyway, it is up to him and nothing I can help. Also he is now very busy preparing for UK unis’ entrance test and interviews (now 4 out of 5 require him to do interview/open day!), I don’t want to add on unnecessary burden on him.

My son is studying in HK. He applied UCAS & HKUST IRE program. Does anyone know the interview period for U.K. University?
Will it be selected for interview during X'Mas holiday?

All the UK schools and unis will be closed during Xmas holidays.

I think international students are either exempted for interviews or can do Skype interviews. Even for Oxbridge, some colleges would let international students choose Skype or face to face interviews.

I don't think that university will hold interviews during holiday. Some universities may have posted their interview dates online, e.g., Oxford.

可以呀。係Birmingham, 要求AAA, 朋友話係Russell group 嘅typical offer, 阿仔話Manchester 同Sheffield 應該一樣，反而Oxford 同Imperial typical offer 係A*AA, 唔係難好多。而且阿仔Math 其實已經攞咗個A*, 咁即係淨返要achieve兩個AA for Phy 同 Chem......咁咪即係Oxford & Imperial 同其他三間嘅難度無分別 (當然係有CO 咁計啦）？

唔係呀，十劃未有半撇！下星期四先考OXFORD 個physics aptitude test 咋，A*AA 係typical offer, 所以我話"如果有CO 嘅話"

imperial 就十一月有得interview.

IELTS 係用嚟qualify 英文程度響英國讀大學，只要過咗大學嘅entry requirement 就得，高過應該無加分，唔會令你有offer 嘅機會高咗。
再簡單啲講，大學比offer 時可以without IELTS results, 到有offer 時IELTS requirements 係condition 之一，所以你唔洗心急而家交IELTS result.

係呀，暑假佢返香港我已催促佢報考，但佢唔嗲唔鈎，忙著其他事情。結果返到英國先報考，十月中考試，前幾日先出成績，趕唔切上報 UCAS.

多謝您的意見呀！因為報香港的大學，好看重語文成續，而佢報嗰科都好需要語文能力，所以我以為較佳的英文成績會有著數添！
