There is no perfect solution to every problem.  Whiichever way you come up with, I think at the end, you just can't satisfy everybody at the same time, or all the time for that matter.  

If I were EDB, I would keep it status quo.  Either you turn up or no show.  The only excuse is death (in which case you don't have to turn up because you are already dead).  We don't want you to scare the hell of everybody.
