Extending Chinese at Primary Level

This term sees the launch of pilot programmes in Chinese at Beacon Hill, Kowloon Junior and Shatin Junior schools. These programmes will not only increase the amount of time dedicated to Chinese: the curriculum has been designed to cater for as wide a range of abilities as possible, and much work has been put into ensuring that the educational outcomes are clearly measurable.

The pilot will involve significant changes in Chinese curriculum, methodology and outcomes. After studying such a course for six years of Primary, most students will have built a sufficiently solid foundation to pursue Chinese Language B Standard Level in Years 12-13 as a minimum. Teaching of the new curriculum will start after Chinese New Year.
