英文退少少，中文則進多多.
最重要是對英文的敏感度和語感，是會保留到中學。

Local primary:  Chinese first language + English second language

IS primary ( particularly bilingual schools like ISF, CIS, VSA) : Chinese first language + English first language

Even in ESF, if you can maintain top pathway, you can also get into Chinese first language stream.

教育各有選擇，冇對錯。
IS kindergarten + LS primary + IS secondary 肯定是一個可行的方案。
但樓主要求 native english ，這是不止口音的，這個組合不太適合。
不過，不適合要求有 native english 的人，並不代表這方案唔好。
唔駛咁激動。

我知道ESF對小朋友要求不高，而懂溝通便可以，但自己不是target ESF, 亦不知其他IS對英語的水平要求，故才想「及早」準備。

If you are talking about application to kindergarten or Year 1, most international schools mainly require that a child can communicate in English. So the process itself is not harsh.
It only seems to be hard because there are a lot of applicants. (Not only ESF, but other international schools have lots of applicants.) Those that did not get a place are mostly, I would say, unlucky.


However, application to secondary school is a lot harder as the level of english required would be a lot higher. Many schools have written entrance exams for english and math. And they need to see your academic performance from previous school (report cards, reference letters from teachers, etc).

There is no unique way of preparing for children for international schools.
The best way is to immerse into English.
Live like you are an english speaking family: listen to english songs, appreciate english speaking culture (including pop culture), watch english tv programs, read english books, magazines, etc.
Read more english books to your child. When he is ready, let him read by himself.
IS let children learn english reading and writing NOT by teaching them read and write, but by making them read and write.
