tell us what your criteria and concern are, and maybe I can share the SMC aspect.  It's all about which school fits your expectation and your child's characters.  There is no the best school for all children

Happy to share, I went though the process and know how parents are tormented during the process.  just put your questions here and I shall try to answer them based on my experience.  My opinion would definitely biased because I am the existing parents. :>

My girl is now p.2.  She had Chi dictation every 2 week, 8-10 vocab + 1 paragraph.  Eng seems 1-2 dictations so far.  They are not focusing on dictation.  Instead, we need to finish 45 Chinese and 20 Eng reading reports in 1 year.
I remember P.1 first term does not need dictation at all.  

As to homework, only 2-3 every day.  

Very short quizs in Maths, teachers treat this as an revision, just 3-5Q each quiz.  

Since SMC has 3 semesters, so 3 exams.

Overally speaking my girl can still enjoy her after school life, e.g. reading, watching TV, playing boardgames etc.  Still have strong motivation to learn.
