To say that HYS only admits sub-standard students looks pretty shallow to me. As we all know, the difference between the top first and the top ten students is not substantial especially in primary school. The child's potential is what matters the most in the educators' eyes.
To those parents whose daughters rank top three in their respective schools, HYS may not rank the first in their own priority lists, but just serves as the last back-up option. If this is so, why bother to be upset when they didn't get the offer from HYS. Those parents may just feel a little bit “losing face”. But no one would deny their daughters' excellence.
Let those girls who want to go to HYS the most to take the place and wish them the best, isn't that the thing we adults should wish?
