My daughter joined lower six in sep after F4. She is doing 5 subjects mainly in science. First two months, no problem as she knew the subjects in F4. Now, chem & bio begin to touch on new stuff and start to be difficult. But still, she is doing ok and she is enjoying classes and extra curriculum activities. This is what we want her to experience in boarding life.

Yes. She wants to apply universities in hk that require 4 subjects. She picks 5 in lower six so that she can drop one which she has less confidence in getting higher grade in upper six. So far she can handle it well.

In Oxbridge briefing, my daughter's school said even with 3A* or 4A*, only half of the application will be successful and the rate goes down with lower mark. The message is that good grade is important but not the most important. Secondly, most schools don't want a large pool of applications for Oxbridge.

This summer, my daughter started to draft up her personal statement, worked on a summer job and did reading on books and articles related to the discipline she wanted to apply. The summer job and reading would help on both personal statement and interview. She didn't do any test paper as it is more from the knowledge she already learned. Besides, this is the first year Cambridge hold the entry test. Preparation needs to start in summer if you want to apply to Oxbridge.

Yes exactly that's what I've told that since Cambridge requires entran ...

Btw, the entrance test can be done in hk thru british council during term break and so she still have time to prepare for it without worrying abt anything else.

頭先阿仔打比我，話history 好有趣，佢主動做extended reading, 老師仲 ...

I told my daughter to go for what she is most interested in now to pursue her undergraduate study no matter it is academic or professional one. It is really not too late to change to a practical degree in her graduate study. Even if she wants to start working, a degree from a well known university can definitely land her a career in the commercial world.

Cambridge only has Natural Science to cover Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, etc. Students will choose their subject interest when they get into Cambridge. This is what my daughter has applied.

I know she has also applied Imperial for chemistry and will have interview in Nov. I can't remember the others  but she mentioned one in Scotland.

I think so. I just leave it to her to choose the universities. I know she did some research and probably got some advice from her subject teachers.  She only mentioned she won't pick London if she have a choice.

亞女Edinburgh已有conditional offer，起碼有一間，但cambridge入學考試就話好難，考完好唔開心

I have asked my daughter the same question. She said in the past, Cambridge would hv a higher chance for interview than Oxford as there was no entrance test. However this is the first year for the test. So hard to say if Cambridge will use the test result to do a 1st pass filter before interview.

有conditional offer是否必收？

顧名思義，conditional offer係有要求，通常會比三科A Level成績，真正達標就冇問題。

女兒收到IC嘅offer，但收取條件就之後再通知，不知這是正常程序，女兒是上星期去面試。

She took igcse in hk and got 8A*&2A. Her predicted grade for ucas is A*.

Yes. She did take AS exam for both Math subject. She did total six papers. And she used her AS result for ucas application.

收到的電郵內容先講面試做得不錯，然後就講會收女兒入學，條件之後再有電郵通知，因一星期前才面試，雖然又好似唔係正式conditional offer，但都有些驚喜。
