Traditionally this school takes a rather low-profile approach so parents may not know about it as well as other schools with more information and publicity.  This may also be the reasons that less parents would talk about it as many of them dunno too much.

It is a very good program which have been running for few years already.

What you have described is somehow a tradition among us (I am also an old boy of SLS), although we graduated from the school for many many years, we always keep a good relationships with fellow old schoolmates.

Honestly, the past 10 years should be the nightmare of all primary schools in Hong Kong, because of the prolonged period of low birth rates.

So, it changes everything in the environment and also the different policies by the EDB changes the mix of schools, particularly with the addition of Direct Subsidized schools.

Anyway, I believe there are few facts that happened (1) with the low birth rates, actually children have enjoyed higher chances to be admitted to gov't or gov't aided schools thru allocation so they are given more options; (2) the SLS primary section has changed to whole-day a number of  years ago but with the limited classrooms, less seats are available and also make it less attractive; (3) demand to SLS (secondary) may have lowered as C&W district is actually a very special district, besides 2 band 3 schools, all others are band 1 schools.  So with decrease in birth rate, it may pushes some band 2 students into some band 1 schools.


Just my observations thru these years.  Hope it can help for better understanding.

A little information to share.  Although the students entering S1 may not be the best group, however, over these years, the students graduating from the secondary school has achieved the highest improvement rating (compare to other C&W district schools) after their 5 years of study in SLS.

From what I know, shouldn't be using English in all subjects but only science and math are taught in English.

校風嚴謹 or not is in comparative term.  I don't think it is too strict and secondary section will be more relax since what we used to proud of in the past is we have no school regulations to follow.  Self-discipline is the key.

原先打算比小朋友入讀官校/津校,但見聖類斯是英小.希望將來上中學時在英文方面可佔優.因其學生平時慣用英文.

另外,其校風嚴謹嗎?我見學生們的穿著隨意.

That's a bit old news which actually affecting all nominated and feeder schools in Hong Kong.  EDB announced a three more years delay to 2015 P1 intake and claimed they will spend more time collecting inputs from the schools.
