I am counting the number of qualified piano teachers that I know.

There are 6 of them. 5 of them choose not to teach their own children, right from the very beginning.

They said they cannot teach them the same way as they teach the other students, which they think is bad because the whole teaching methodology is distorted.  It's also hard to encourage them practise piano.

I am still tempted to try it myself.  Any piano teachers out here please share your thoughts.

Will such "identity mix-up" cause any long-term problem?  Even if you child listens and follows your instruction well?
