In fact, the writing skills of WKF children is quite strong with the improvement of the school curriculum.  My son in G2 this year; however, he could easily write up a 2 pages A4 essay on his own with the 6Ws, sequence, adjectives and verb usage.

This is the key writing elements that children in G1 need to include in their G1 final exam English writing.

I don't think this is consider to be "weak" compare to other so call famous school or traditional.

Compare to other "famous school" and traditional, children are still doing setence instead of paragraph in G1 or 2.  WKF is pretty advance in the writing skill training for kids even they are not very picky on the spelling and punctuation.  But this helps to encourage student to write more with what they are thinking instead of too much worry if the details are being count.  Teachers are more cocern and will comments on teh contents of the writing.

30 child in the class, but split into 20-24 (7 classes) for Eng, Chi & Maths depends on teh subject focus.

No, they only need about 30-45mins to have homework done independently.  Only for those Science or Liberal Art projects, Parents might need to help out and work together.

Only 2 exam a year, assessment commence sometimes to see where the children's standard is with no marking but grading rubics telling where the children's strength and weakness.  What need to impriove.

Dictation on Chinese and English only once a month.

However, expect Children to read and be creative on writing techniques.

G1 should be able to handle a short essay writing no matter what kind of kindergarten they are from.  Coz, the requirement of the essay is to reflect what student had learn in class.  Teachers are not piggy on spelling or grammatical usage but if the key for the writing is to show the 6Ws (What, When, Where, Which, Why and Who); then assessment will be graded if students are well use of the knowledge.

Also, during class, teachers already guided them how to build sentence by using what's been taught.

As of course, the more reading childen did, it helps.  Doesn't matter if the book are long or short but complex in writing and have rooms for children to use their imaginations.

Not really, only 2 teachers left from last year and of course some changes happened after Ms Din (Principal, Primary school) and Mrs Hsu (Vice principal) left.

My son in G2 as well, he can write up at least 1.5 pages A4 size essay during the writing assessment.

And reading comprehensive skill is quite advance

Thoughts WKF really improved the syllabus and standard recently compare to the time while the school just set up.

yes, there is a little bit difference from each split class.  Some focus on spelling, some focus on reading, some focus on writing.

Assessment criteria is the same and will be evaluated from the class expectation.

Don't worry if your kid not even able to spell the words.  Phonics and spelling exercise helps the kids to build the foundamental skill.

In fact, WKF's syllabus is not only focus if the kids spell the words correctly; is how to kids perform overall in different perspective.

They will assess the kids performance in creativity, usage of punctuation and format, contents of the essay.

But not point out the wrong spelling, instead not to discourage the creativity of the children.

FYI, except $3500 school fee/month, about $1000 misc per school year.  $1200 textbk teaching material per year.
Fees for After school OLE (Other learning experience) is quite fair and to the market price.  If selected to school team, free for training on some sports and music.

others about $100 to $500 on field trips.

Annual excusion:
G1: ~ $300-500 for day trip
G2/G3: ~$300-500 for 2/3 days local camp
G4-6: oversea trip ~ few thousand depends on where you go
