EMB said it is an agreement between school and the parents. If you sign, it is legally binded which is the same case as any agreements you sign in commercial world.

it is not in line with education bureau's policy.  i doubt whether the letter signed to give up lucky draw is legally effective or not.

seems a number of parents treat this school as second choice only as distance is a concern for most parents and fee is quite high too

How about the english oral standard? I am a bit concerned about that as I spoke to a student helper on the interview day in English and it was quite below my expectation

Yes, many parents and children are attracted by the school environment of SSCPS at first. It is spacious with beautiful scenery and fresh air. I think people working or studying there would have good  ...

The golden period for kid to learn foerign language is below 10. If we put a kid in a school with so many NET teachers and resources and so much emphasis in english training. Of course, we expect value for money

They are at P5. Let me elaborate a bit...I was not expecting quite a few "Chinese English" expressions in a 2 mins chat with a kid at P5 in a English teaching primary school with 8 NET teachers. And the things we were talking is just about daily life. I mean if presentation given by kids standing on stage of some schools, the kids can be trained up and I dont think it is a real test of english ability of kids. And I was not talking about english accent as we can only expect native accent in ESF etc.

That's why I just want to find out what is the general oral english standard of the school and if the case I saw was only isolated case. I was also thinking student helper should already be selected from a better student pool in terms of language and presentation etc.

That helper was very confident in replying in English when we asked if she could talk to us in English, it is just the standard... Age at P5 has confidence to face strangers and answer questions in today's world and non-spoon feeding teaching schools are not suprising. Think of our kids who are 5 years old only and face so many different new faces asking so many interview questions in a totally unknown environment, quite a lot of them can handle well. I heard from many kids telling their parents what were going on in the interview, the maturity and ability to express are so impressive. World has changed and become very competitive. We need more outspoken kids.

Any experience to share which proved "a letter to Principal" is useful?

If SSCPS is the dream school for your child, write to the Principal sincerely to express your interest. By doing so, your child would be placed at a higher priority of the waiting list.
