What level of cert?
Mover or Flyer? no use for F.1 place.
(pass mark is 10 shield)
If PET or FCE, it is useful for F.1 place.
Other then English cert. Activity cert. is important too.

P1/2 is completed Flyer with mark
P2/3 complete KET & PET
P3/4 complete FCE

It is general for english primary school.
It is my son school.

It is gerenal for English School only,
Not for most 90+ Chinese base school.
The result is totally different.

Therefore, I say PET/FCE for F.1 place.
Most secondary school select well english standard student via public exam, rather than school's report.

If you find better or famous school, the english cert. is must. Plus 2 or more in  following,
Other language cert. eg. french, spanish, japanese etc.
Good activity /sport result or reprsentative of HK.
Music is grade 7 or up,
Manner should be "B+" or up
Overall ranking in school is top 10%.

I think most school will offer extra place to kids.
even DBS, DGS, LS, KC, QC etc...

Actually, I know one boy with all of above terms. (He is super kid)
He is accepted by all kncoking school after Sep not July or August.

But we are lived in HK, we must follow the rule.

Generally, you are correct.
If u a interviewer for selection new staff. what is your selection concern?
If most candidate performance are similar. you will pefer candidate with more cert. or selected in random?
I will perfer more cert. one.
It is because of high ability with more cert. person, it is safty for interviewer to select new staff.

For the school, it is the same reason for selection suitable kids for interviewer.

The first round of F.1 place is selected 2 school & making interview.
The second round is ranking & lucky draw.

I think most school will select the best of the best in all interviewee in first round.

How to know the interviewee is best of the best. I think the public cert., public activity, representative of HK. All is measurable and countable.

Therefore, most parent will prepare its.

No need to joint the course for KET or PET.
You can train by your self if you have F.4/5 standard.

My P.1 kid never take any course.
He get high mark in Flyer.
His English is learning in school, not extra training or course.
He will take KET after summer.
Now, he can finish KET paper in a hour with 90% correct.
But his hand writing so bad and slowly.

Are u accepted the P.1 kids take the exam in KET/PET.

I try to refuse his request due to the KET/PET exam for P.1/2 boy is no use.

He give me a answer is :-
When I completed PET exam, then I can start the public math exam.

Some of his schoolmate, completed PET in P2, and get Double Distinction and yet being the Youngest Outstanding Candidate in the Fall 2009 World Class Test.

Some of your saying is correct.

Now, he can say & write sentence with tense for hundreds words. In Easter, he wrote a project for easter holiday, more then 300 words. Finally, his submitted the project less then 100 words with pictures in 2 A4 papers.

I refused the PET for him, when KET is complete, English test is complete.

He love reading, find the question, solve the problem.
He reading many books, even English, Chinese, on any area, eg history, science, story & etc. He can tell me the content, discussion or ask me a question.

Last X'mas, he has a interest in maths when he saw the book for maths application in daily,
then we are doing the maths and he feel so interesting.

Actually, his school standard is similar with 90+% primary school, no 1 or 2 level up for teaching. He is enjoy the school life.

He can not get full mark in daily homework, but he can solve the problem of other level.
