I thought you can only choose to become "big boy" or "small boy" if your kid was born between Sept - Dec.  You said your son is 0802, meaning Feb 2008 correct?  Then I do not think you can choose, and that your son won't really be a big boy as there could / will be kids from Sept 2007 in his class.
