I should image the  parents don't  want to see the results are the same in the  next few years otherwise SFXC' language level is just as the Band 2 school.

[p=29, null, left]【太陽報專訊】【本報訊】第二屆中學文憑考試「星級狀元」誕生地繼續「大執位」，不少傳統名校如拔萃女書院、拔萃男書院等均絕迹於狀元榜，反而地區名校逐漸抬頭。受去年首屆文憑試中文科合格率突跌的打擊，不少傳統名校加緊操練中文口語和作文，並由初中起操練文言文，令中文科3級率提升約十個百分點，收復失地。有傳統名校校長承認，受中文科成績拖累，以及部分學生為避文憑試「跳船」轉投其他國際考試影響，誕生狀元的機會愈來愈低。

[p=29, null, left]今年中學文憑試誕生的九名七科5**「星級狀元」，多位來自地區名校或英中如真光女書院、德望學校、中華基督教會協和書院，甚至是天水圍的直資學校香港青年協會李兆基書院。曾盛產狀元的男拔、女拔、香港華仁書院、協恩中學等，雖然今年文憑試整體成績仍彪炳，但卻絕迹「狀元行列」。

[p=29, null, left]香港華仁書院校長譚兆炳說，該校英文科3級率九成九，中文科3級率則達八成多，較去年上升近一成，未能誕生狀元估計與中文科改制有關，「無可否認，英中學生較少接觸中文，加上中文改咗制，學生仍需時適應」。為強化學生的中文基礎，校方在初中加重文言文比例，並增加中文作文的字數要求。

[p=29, null, left]聖芳濟書院只稱中文科3級率較去年上升一成，副校長龐永輝表示，發現去年中文作文表現較弱，故已增加作文練習，直言「今年最叻嘅學生有四科5**，但都係欠咗一科中文攞唔到5**」。

I agree
星級狀元 is not a issue. But, as a band 1 school, the % of grade 5 or above of English or Chinese should be higher than 20%. Otherwise, SFXC is no difference with the band 2 school.

I totally agree with you the school should make a target of at least 20-30% at level 5 or above. If not, SFXC is no longer a band 1 school standard.

nicholasmom, It has been a long long time since your last comment!! I am so glad to see you again here.By the way, I am not surprised SFXC will have Chinese medium class in the future since the results of DSE of the languages can't attract the band 1 students to put at the 1st choice in 统一派位.

I think SFXC has taken more than 90% band 1 students in  recent years. And my logic is - although not all band 1 boys are good in languages , at least their ability must be above  the average level in Hong Kong. And the results ofDSE in both English and Chinese  are just a bit higher than the average level of Hong Kong students.

Therefore, I really think SFXC can have much better results if the school management will focus on this issue.

The performance  of maths and other selected subjects seemed to be good.  But, the languages and LS is justsame  as the average level of Hong Kong(regarding to %of 5-5**). My concern is just the subject of English  will be a big obstacle  to enter the top Universities(三大).

The allocation of F4 selected subjects has just been announced from SFXC wed site. Do you satisfed with the results? Any form 4 parents can make comments?
