Although the difference in application form is noticeable, I don't think it makes as much difference as many people think. There are many more things the headteacher and other interviewers would care than whether the form is original or downloaded.
As for their practice of releasing information only at the briefing, it seems that they have had that practice for years. The briefing arrangements were not very desirable either - e.g. the first session started at 9:30 am but the first in line arrived at 7 am just for a seat in the hall; they did not have TV relays of the seminar in classrooms when the hall had been filled. Online registration can be easily set up in a web site and it will save parents' time in lining up so early on the day of the briefing or even prevent parents from being disappointed by a full house.
I have no idea why the school keeps the information so secretive to those who do not attend the briefing.
My wife does not like this school at all, so it will be one of our lowest priorities even if my son is accepted by DBSPD. I can understand how she feels.
