雖然我無報呢d學校，不過都多謝你咁抵得諗，令其他家長重燃希望。

o係呢個過程，最感動係由零變一o個一刻，就算唔係最心儀o既學校，都會有安全感，唔駛一d渣拿都冇。

I have released the place for Kau Yan.  They will be putting me to waiting list (behind all the present waiting-list applicants presumably) as I already registered my son to Wah Yan.  I hope I have the right to release more places later.

I have heard that 般官 is a top-tier school (= keen competition for a place), and my friend's son (P1 this year) did not apply for it because she wanted to have a bigger chance by applying for a good 2nd-tier school.  I don't know much about this school though, so I'm afraid I can only be speechless on this school.

My humble opinion: a phone call is a must (to speed up the release), and a letter of appreciation will be an additional (though optional) good gesture to the school.

I am still waiting for Ying Wa and SSCPS.  If they accept my son, I will consider withdrawing from Wah Yan.

BTW, I did not need to sign any undertaking at Wah Yan.  I remember a BK parent said in another thread that he/she had to sign an irrevocable acceptance letter so that the place cannot be withdrawn later.

I understand, and I'm glad the forum administrator has upgraded this thread.  Maybe she can consider putting it always at the top in view of its prime importance.

Don't lose hope yet.  Places will be gradually released from now on.  

My wife and I agree that this process lets us learn many things apart from the procedural stuff -  who are real friends, who just want to be nosy when they ask about us, and who turn their back on us when we ask for their help.

我自行註冊時唔駛簽 undertaking. 申請表只係話，如獲直資取錄，就唔可以接受自行個位或參加大抽獎；由於英華收生遲過自行註冊，即係話，假如英華收我個仔而我又去註冊，自行個位就會自動取消，不過我都會打電話話通知自行間學校放位，等佢地盡快搵人補上或將個位加入大抽獎。(英華收至算啦...)

No, I live on HK Island.

Wah Yan is a famous traditional school, but its academic results are not as good as before.  Students of YW seem to be more lively and all-rounded and principal Lam's mission and actions are worth supporting.

May I ask the reason(s) you think Wah Yan is not inferior (or even superior) to Ying Wa?

Yes, that's exactly the reason we hope Ying Wa will give us an offer.  As for chance, it depends not only on us, but on my son's performance in the forthcoming 2nd interview.  After the previous 2nd interview performance at SSCPS (not very desirable because we let him take part in piano competition in the morning and he had to sit for more than an hour), we will try to let him have some fun in the morning of YW's 2nd interview date.

I agree WY has been successful in the past, but we cannot use its past success (> 10 years ago) only to judge whether it is a good school now.  As an alumnus, its decline hits me harder than outsiders.  

I don't believe in fame only.  I look more into the underlying reasons for its fame to decide whether it is a relevant factor to consider now.   Accordingly, I usually dismiss opinions simply saying "it's a famous school" or "lots of people are dying to get in".  It may sound strange to many people, but I am a practical person and fame means little to me.
