Is The extra 10 marks for religion restricted to SKH member? We are christians but not SKH.

when I submitted the portfolio, they emphasized that if the baptism is NOT SKH, then, NO NEED to make a copy for them.

So, I think, only SKH count.

Frankly, just heard from someone. But I think not unreasonable.  For a normal school, says 油天，25 marks always 39+p, not including those overlapped under 35 and 20 marks. For DBS with such a long history, there must be more. Then to add with reglions and others.  Anyways, it is not sure win since the others still count. Such as the performance in 2nd interview.

just finished second interview...same as my expectation....low chance as we are not from "old boys family" and also not  SKH members.....
will share the questions after 30 Nov 2011...so disappointed.
In the waiting room, I heard over 50 % fathers are "old boys"......

through conversation between parents in the waiting room...I think that only school will know the exact numbers.

In the interview, they really showed their preference to give offers to their old boy families or SKH.......

so sad....

If related parties can really get 10 more marks, my son's chance would be very low.
If siblings/ old boys dad ~ 30%
SKH member ~ 30%
unrelated may be just 40% maximum?
I am not confident that my son was so bright to get an offer!!!
anyway, I am still proud of him because he improves a lot during these few months.
Keep fighting for our son!
wishing miracle will come!!!

I am beginning to really believe that only a miracle will get my son an offer to DBS....

Don't panic! Without any shadow of doubt, kid with connection should have a much higher chance to get an offer.

Having said that, the 2nd interview performance still count. Kids with connection need to do really bad in order to miss an offer while kids with no connection need to give a superb performance in order to get one.

SPCC has a strong preference to kids with connection. Every year, there is about 30% of the seats are given to those with no connection. Assuming same % for DBS, there is still around 50 seats for the kids with no connection to compete. It's not too bad (50 out of 200) at all!

As what jjmag said, we should be very proud of our sons!

Maybe we should view this in another angle. We all know that (at least on the paper) connection counts for 10% out of 100. That system is very different from SPCC which classifies the students at the very beginning, e.g. Gp 1, Gp 4, etc. Will this 10% of marks really can contribute so much that 70% of those kids with connection  will be admitted to the school. Of course the above discussion is based on the 10% mark for connection, I have no way to know if there is any hidden "marks".

昨天in完,我地等左1 hr 10 min,比起7年前等3個鈡,進步好多阿囝一入去就講野,攪到miss lo耍叫佢停,唉....,又轉chair ,唉..... 我相信機會微,佢曵呀><
校監+ miss lo+mrs yip,好nice
校監同我老公傾HKU d野,無時間問我地問題,校監都笑咗,相信家長答問一定唔計分^^,當日至知校監同我老公老闆係同班同學,呢個世界好細呀
阿囝講砌野(車同象)+講故事,佢話Mrs Yip叫佢做gentleman,佢講完故事,mrs yip讚佢叻喎,我問佢之後呢?佢話咪放學囉
佢帶左奖牌,佢話校長就問奖牌d野,佢豪到話要送比校長呀@0@
哥哥就犧牲食反時間來支持弟弟,兄弟同心,我好安慰

大家都辛苦喇,總會有書讀的,唔好聽咁多謠言
好似我外甥,不讀名校,但年年考第1,有自信,今年中大全校得佢有得in medic呀
