08年IK1入黎交流下啦

您好, 我個女-都入讀明年Ik1.
入讀崇真的原因是:過去就讀過的家長口碑好好, 小孩在家都會說英文及國語. 只有一班國際班, 小班制 UNDER20個學生一班 (朋友個仔今年讀緊). 一位外籍教師為班主任, 另外有一位國語教師及一位本地教師, 外籍班主任能夠TAKE CARE到各學生的學習及情緒問題. 經常致電家長報告學生的學習及情緒狀況. 學費是$3XXX.00

但出年開始開辦兩班, 設有學券制, 學費下調至$2XXX.00 但就只有一位外籍教師兩邊走, 這班教英文時另一班教國語(已不知她能否再做班主任了), 最慘是每班有25-30人, 還是小班教學嗎???

我有致電崇真查詢有關以上安排會否導致教育質素下滑, 她們只說您自己考慮吓拉. 這令我要再考慮一吓!

Hi Leungchoilam,

My daughter is also admitted to IK1 in 2008. Are you sure that only one Native english teacher will run into 2 classes?  

As I understand from the education department, the ratio in kindergarten should be 1:14 (or 1:15). Usually in the kindergarten with a class size of 25 to 30, 2 teachers should be in the class. When half class is having english lesson, the other half should have PTH lesson, and then change.

So I think it is difficult to have 2 class to share with one native english teacher.

But I am worried about the quality of IK1 next year after reading the article from the parent, leungchoilam. It sounds they dont have enough manpower.

或者我明天打電話去學校問一問,如果有新消息再告訴大家。

其實我早陣子都有打電話去查詢有關國際班的事，當時崇真的職員告訴我，他們有足夠的人手和地方去開多一班，只是去年不是很多人報國際班，所以沒有開。不過今年報名的人多了，有足夠的條件開班。當時他沒有跟我說過，一位外藉老師為兩班的班主任。

我問了崇真的職員。他說08年的IK1確是一位外藉老師任兩班的班主任，而每班共收了廿五名學生。

他說新制裡，每班的英語時間為一小時左右，其餘由本地老師和普通話老師帶。職員好肯定地說，總之班房裡一定有三位老師對廿五名學生。

In this case, I have an enquiry. Last year in IK1, that meant there should be one native English teacher, one native PTH teacher and one cantonese teacher, three teachers in one class in which there were less than 20 students. However, this year, the class size jumps to 25 but the two classes even have to share ONE native English teacher only? It doesnt sound fair or logical.

I will call too to the Assistant Kindergaten Headteacher after 2:30 and ask her how it is going to run actually.

試想想, 共有兩班國際班; 只有1位外籍老師, 兩個普通話老師, 兩個本地老師. 她如何可以肯定地班房裡一定有三位老師對廿五名學生。最可能是因為學費便宜了 (之前是3千幾的).

本人覺得她們應該以維持教育質素為原則(像06-07年畢業生).

Here is the Principal Dr.TAM 's reply:

Dear Parent,

Thanks for your enquiry of our IKG classes.  You're right.  Because of the fee reduction (when the fee is cut down to 2/3 of the scheduled fee, the resource is also cut down), the Native English Teacher has to run between two classes.   The compensation to this is to invite the children enrol in the Englsih Playgroups which run one hour per day for five days per week, in addition to the half day IKG core curriculum in the afternoon. The number of children in each class is approximately 25 but NOT 35.  If you wish to know more about the operation in the IKG, please come over this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and listen to our detailed presentations at the School Hall.  I guess this is the last interview we arrange for the admission of children for the school term of September 2008 as we have just closed our applications for next year.

I also called the Assistant Kindergarten Headmaster yesterday. She replied that it is for sure that there will be 2 teachers in one class which consists of 25 students approximately. Within the one-hour English/PTH class, the whole class will work together for first half an hour with the native English/PTH teacher and one Chinese teacher there, then they will be divided into two groups so that the class size will be smaller, the native teacher will work on the work on one of the groups while the other group will have their PE or other lessons.

Since they will have a introduction on Wed, can we join it by ourselves or do we need to sign up? I am very interested in joining the presentation.
