I've heard of it in book exhibition, I even spent half hour to listen to their promotion.   All I can say is that the material is basically not bad, but the price is really high, and the information are not very enough (they claim the material will be useful for student's project...)!!

我就覺得套書都幾多，因有150本，但幾取考，因只有幾頁中文幾頁英文就一本書，實質得個幾頁，隨o左個面硬正o的同大本o的，就同我買o左個套小xx差唔多，佢有150個topic，我o個套都有48本播，但只係14xx左右，所以我會覺得太貴啦，16xxx，真係幾誇，不過真係好鍾意佢o的圖卡，又大有o衾用，好似有五百幾張添，我係書展見到都鍾意o的圖卡，我去過沙田大眾搵，但搵唔到播，我想問下有無淨係買圖卡，請問你地知唔知知呢？

I bought "inquizitive" for my son too. This set of books is suitable for younger kids ~3-8yr.

About 國家地理雜誌百科全書 Window on Literacy, I don't have much idea about this set of book but I think it's quite similar to Inquizitive (from Emergent level, Fluent, and so on but it's too expensive!!!).

I have an alternative suggestion about the 百科全書 which is another product line of National Geographic for your consideration.

National Geographic Reading Expeditions:

The followings are the information that I directly copied from the National Geographic Website
(I don't have any relation with NG!!!    )

Reading Expeditions is a supplemental, nonfiction reading program for grades 3 to 8 consisting of 104 (for the China version have 9 series with 44 titles) titles. Reading Expeditions combines standards-based social studies and science content with reading development. The books have been proven to be effective for increasing students' knowledge in the content areas, as well as improving students' comprehension skills.

This Web site offers a wealth of free, easy-to-use, online teaching resources, such as downloadable teaching notes, activity masters, assessment materials, and a correlation to curriculum standards.

For the China Version, the quality is very good and informative. (All in English!) Each books have about 30 pages. (but quite a lot of words => need to read for your kids if they are too young!)

This set of book consists of 9 series ($5.9@ X44 =$2XX) + 1 teacher's guide and assessments for each series ($9.8@ X9)

昨天從廣州回來, 去了廣州書城和南方書城, 我都見到這一系列的National Geographic.  圖片精美不在話下, 內容非常足, 有解釋各種現象, 似百科全書.  最好的還是可以散買, 鍾意邊各topic就邊個topic.

By the way, after surfing through National Geographic website. I think that the series of Windows of Literacy is target for younger kids.

Windows on Literacy offers a rich resource of developmental nonfiction books for beginning through fluent readers. The program carefully develops basic literacy skills as it introduces children to the world of ideas and knowledge. These leveled readers provide children with the supports and challenges that they need to develop and practice key reading skills and strategies.

Nonfiction reading invites young readers to ask and answer questions, to understand that books are sources of information, and to explore personal interests through books. Focusing on the key concepts in science and social studies outlined in national standards for grades Pre-K–3, Windows on Literacy taps into children's natural curiosity about themselves, the world around them, and their place in that world.

Meanwhile for the Reading Expedition series is target for elder kids Grade 3-8 (which is suitable for primary 3+ to secondary level).

I heard about the NG Windows on Literacy  for several mths, but still do not have time to take a look UNITL today.... when my hubby and I visit the popular book shop shatin,   OH, I Found IT. Sit down first and READ READ READ many of them.
Yes, very attactive and big pictuires.
Definitely is for Pre- school --- Primary 6.( from 1-12 years)

Totally 5 levels :
Step up : single words
Emergent : short sentences
Early : short paragraphs ( 3-4 sentences)
Fluent : paragraphs
Fluent Plus : Articles

Topics : relate more to every day life, many variations, very attractive photos.......... but expensive. $16800 free interest installment for 18 or 24 mths. if buy the Early + Fluent + Fluent plus $11800.

BIG BIG Different from the "Big science" from GC/ East West.( different from $$, different from topics)

NG would be my choice if it were under $10000 !!!

though I heard many  good recommendations on BK.
Do u think GZ has that sort of fictional  English reading series from Taiwan or Gifted Child Edu Co ?

Hello,

The WOL is definitively target for preschool level +.  The set of books covers wide range of information from social science, daily topics, science, history, maths and other daily life related topics.

"Inquizitive" is quite similar to WOL (you'll find some of the titles are the same and some are of the similar meaning and idea! Like push / pull, where does the water go? city building, ....) through a series of "NON-FICTION Guided Readers" targeting for the preschool age group. There kinds of books convey knowledge to kids through lots of the real and attractive photos accompanying with "FEW WORDS or Simple Short Sentences" according to different levels (from stepup -> emergent -> early -> fluent).

"Inquizitive" is published first by "Longman form Australia - Pearson Education Group".
