I have no idea about the other two at Junk Bay but my daughter is studing at APS Kowloon Tong.  I am happy with the school and think it is all-rounded.  I also want to hear more comment about the school.  I heard many said it is very difficult and pushy but I do not really see the case.  May be it is still early to tell as my daughter is only at primary 1.  But they surely don't give  too much homework.  May be as they get higher grade, the school have higher expectation on them.  w

Would some of the upper form parents share with us?  Thanks!

Of the three schools, I would definitely choose Alliance.

My neighbour whose son studied in Alliance last year but is studying in DBSPD now tells me that this year DBS admits at least more than 23 Alliance students. Also, Alliance has the methodology to train your kids to become Grade 8 music super by P.6 no matter your kids have interests in music or not. Even your kid is a girl, APS has the average rate of 2 girls to DGS and about 20 girls to Heep Yunn each year. In fact, my neigbour always boasts Alliance in many aspects- academic, music ..

Of the remaining two schools, I am of the view that these new schools have their ideology but without proven records and history. Somehow I have the feeling of placing the kid in a white rat net which I do not have any trust. (Hope my comments are not too offensive)

很多謝你們的意見！
我都很想我的小朋友能够順利考入宣小。
其他两所將軍澳學校都是2001/2002年新辨(優才是97年在九龍塘遷到將軍澳)。两所學校的辨學理念都很相似，可以直升中學，亦是考IB。跟 International School 差不多，從活動及遊戲中學習 ，鼓勵小朋友發揮潛能及多思考，功課考試少，讀書壓力少。
但有些朋友認為若果不適合又很難轉校，或中學畢業後只能在外地升讀大學，在港的機會比較少！是否在香港受教育就一定要讀傳統的填鴨式教育？新的辨學理念就如同白老鼠？
自覺得很予盾！

there are 21 students sent to 東華三院黃芴南中學 from 2002-2004.  Is it a band 1/ 2 school? where is it?

It is right behind APS at Oxford Road.  It is a band 1 school.  I heard there are 3 accepted to DGS this year.  Is it true??

My neighbour said that she heard there are 2 girls admitted to DGS this year. For the previous 3 years, she knew that 3 girls learnt flutes and 1 learnt swimming with brilliant academic, music or sport achievements. Others are by lucky drawn.  

Your girl should achieve G.8 dist. violin by P.5 when you want to send her to DGS.

I guess it is absoultely an advantage if the child has achieved G8 musical achievement or if she is very outstanding to get acceptance from prestigious schools like DGS.  But besides DGS, I only see most of the girls are placed to Yip Yan.   I think boys are in better advantage at APS because of the net.

Besides musical instrument, my daughter has great interest in singing too.  She is taking vocal class too.  Do you think it is worth it to spend that much time on it too?  I don't really think secondary school really appreciate this field because it is not a team work. What do you think?

小一入學統籌辦法

     小一入學機制主要的理念是以「就近入學」為原則；避免以幼童能力作為收生準則，減低幼兒教育揠苗助長的誘因。現行的小一入學機制，分為「自行分配學位」和「統一派位」兩個階段：
自行分配學位

      在「自行分配學位」階段，家長可替其子女向一間官立或資助小學遞交小一入學申請表，申請該校的自行分配學位：

(i) 供有兄�姊在該小學就讀或父�母在該小學就職的申請人的學位
　 所有這類的申請人必獲取錄。此類申請是不受學校網限制的。若這類申請人數目少於學校小一學額的30%，餘下學額可由學校根據(ii) 項方法自行分配。若這類申請人數目多於學校小一學額的30%，不足之數將會以原本預留作「統一派位」的50% 學額填補。

　(ii) 根據「計分辦法準則」分配的學位
　 學校應根據以下的「計分辦法準則」甄選申請人。這類申請也是不受學校網限制的。視乎上述第(i)項的申請人數目，這類學位不少於學校小一學額的20%。
　 　

(一) 父�母全職在與該小學同一校址的幼稚園或中學部工作(20分)

(二) 兄�姊在與該小學同一校址的中學部就讀(20分)

(三) 父�母為該小學的註冊校董(20分)

(四) 父�母或兄�姊為該小學的畢業生(10分)

(五) 首名出生子女（即為家庭各子女中最年長者） ( 5分)

(六) 與該校的辦學團體有相同的宗教信仰( 5分)

(七) 父�母為該小學主辦社團的成員( 5分)

(八) 適齡兒童(即在九月開課時年滿五歲八個月至七歲) (10分)


註：申請人只能在第(一)至第(五)項中選一項填報；而在第(六)至第(七)項中，亦只能申報其中一項。所有申報的關係必須證明屬實，才可以獲得有關分數。

學校在甄選自行分配學位的申請人時，不可進行任何形式的面試或筆試。在經修訂的「計分辦法準則」下，原則上，學校沒有需要約見申請人。但若學校認為有需要在公布「自行分配學位」結果前約見申請人，則會通知家長有關約見詳情。然而，申請人是否獲學校取錄，應取決於「計分辦法準則」的得分而絕非面見的結果。

若有申請人在「計分辦法準則」下得分相同，而申請人數目亦超過學校剩餘的自行分配學位的學額，學校應以隨機方式甄選同分的申請人。學校可自行抽籤，但須秉承公平、公正的原則，或交由教育統籌局中央處理。學校應預先通知申請人校方將採用的方法及有關細節。
　

統一派位

學校須預留小一學額的大約50%，由教育統籌局按學校網和家長選擇進行「統一派位」。「統一派位」的學額中有10%是不受學校網限制的，家長可選擇最多三所位於任何學校網（包括住址所屬學校網）的小學。

「選擇學校表格」分為甲部（不受校網限制的學校選擇）及乙部（住址所屬學校網的學校選擇）兩部份。家長可在甲部填入最多三所任何學校網的選校編號。此外，家長在填寫乙部時，應盡量將其居住地址所屬學校網的小學，按照意願排列先後次序填入表內。

電腦進行統一派位時，首先會處理「不受學校網限制」的選擇，然後處理「住址所屬學校網」的選擇。統一派位是根據家長的選擇分派學位，若某些學校的小一學位求過於供時，電腦將會按「隨機編號」分配，務求公允。電腦首先會依據「隨機編號」次序審閱所有申請人在甲部填寫的第一選擇。當所有申請人的第一選擇審閱完畢後，再依次序審閱未獲派位申請人的第二選擇，然後第三選擇。未能在「不受學校網限制」的選校中獲派學位的申請人，電腦會依上述程序處理他們在「住址所屬學校網」的選校，直至每名申請人皆獲得分配一個小一學位為止。

小學全日制

改善香港教育質素是教育署一貫的工作目標。為加強基礎教育，教育署於一九九三年開始逐步推行小學全日制。香港特別行政區政府首長董建華先生在一九九八年的《施政報告》中，更明確申明推行小學全日制的目標。財政司司長在一九九九至二零零零年度的財政預算案，也強調在教育方面要多作投資，以實現行政長官提供高質素教育的承諾；增加全日制小學數目便是其中一個主要項目。

小學全日制實施以來，普遍得到社會人士特別是學校和家長的贊同和支持。事實上，小學全日制在各方面俱比半日制可取，例如全日制學校可以為學生提供一個更理想的學習環境，和更多元化的學習活動；可以紓緩緊逼的上課時間，使學校能更靈活編排課程；可以提供較充裕的時間，加強師生的溝通以及使學生得到較全面的照顧等。總而言之，全日制對促進學生的全人教育及發展他們的潛能有著積極意義。

I don't think net41 is a superior good net for boys cos. DBS and Ying Wa are out of this net. I personally prefer YauTsuiWong more though my boy is studying in Shatin.

From my Alliance neighbour, she shares that Heep Yunn likes music girl that's why Alliance has so many girls to Heep Yunn each year. I don't know singing will help as my boys are not following the rules of games and they are just learning piano only. But one thing for sure is that Heep Yunn likes girls learning Chinese instrument too. You may consider  to focus on this aspect besides violin and keep singing as a leisure interest.

My Alliance neighbour is at all times preparing more and more for her kid e.g. she would buy F.2 supplementary exercises on English/Chinese for her P.5 kid. I have seen some of Alliance test papers which are definitely more difficult for the same level than other schools. She always tells me that Alliance is always one form higher than my son's school and the emphasis on music is its success to famous school. She also tells me not to learn violin and to drop piano because there are too many competitors for these instruments.

However, I don't agree on her views and I believe all roads can go to Rome.
