What you saw in the show might be the best performers of the school - might not be equivalent to that every student would have such standard.

There may be a group of academic performers and a group of music / sports performers, like DBX, LX.

我小女第個round入選了德望之後，我都放棄了去宣道面試了，而且沒有一點考慮。因德望有悠久的教學歷史(超過40年)，而且歷屆畢業生都有不錯的成績，以及亦有Brand one中學做back up，加上校風出名好，我覺得大家也不要與宣小來比較，除非有兩姊弟或兩兄妹，但也不一定有幫助。

當年兩間都收我囡囡, 最後我揀咗宣小, 因為當時GH要分上下午班, 我就好唔鍾意, 今年GH會轉全日制, 可以考慮, 不過比我揀多一次, 我都會揀宣小, 宣小課程冇GH咁深, 我怕囡囡讀唔掂.

這估計並非事實,宣小大部份學生在樂器方面都有很好的水平.

你好嗎? 囡囡上了中學沒有, 是否你一直心儀那所中學??

坦白說, 如果小女當年被宣小取錄, 我也會選它, 因為我較喜歡男女校及小女的幼稚園同學很多都進了宣小, 總有點情意結.

但現在囡囡在德望都讀得十分開心, 很多方面, 比我想像的好, 今年轉全日制及新校舍設備十分完善, 就更理想.

其實兩所都是很好的學校, 口碑都十分好, 所以每年都有家長提出這個主題發問.

iI watched the performance and I know they only picked two groups of students.  They  called them the day before the show.  And I can also be sure that they are really part of the many outstanding students who excel in both academic and musical achievement.

I agree both schools are good.  There are similar topics every year. I think it is more important to learn and understand each one's style and requirement.  Also important to match children's ability and character.  To decide and judge the school is very perosnal and no right or wrong.

My girl is neither studying in APS nor GH, but I find the following points:
1. In recent years, some 10As students were found coming from APS, (I got the information from other forum), for GH, still can't find relevant information.
2. The HKCEE result of GH (I don't remember which year, I just found it on its website), English result is really very outstanding, but for other subjects, compare with those of the EMI Band One Secondary Schools in Kowloon City, not outstanding at all, especially those science subjects, the results even fell behind. Maybe girls are usually weak in science.  (This is only the result of one particular year, just for reference)

It is because many top girls in GH have transferred to DGS, Maryknoll, St Mary, etc before Form 4. :

So are you saying that Goodhope is perceived as being behind DGS, Maryknoll, St Mary etc?
If not, why should their top girls leave for these schools?

Is it meaning that the students from GHS are very good enough to enter to these school not others?
At least, it proves that Good Hope school can educate very good student to go in these so-called elite schools.

In 2006, Good Hope School have a student getting 10A. Of course, there are million factors to affect the student examination result.

I have heard a DGS parent saying that GHS's English standard is the highest among all schools in HK (including international schools!) - maybe a bit exaggeration, I think.

This parent's daughter studied GHS primary before and then DGS Secondary.
