提早了5天出interview通知, 好像整過面試程序都推前了進行

又未必，人家又冇講佢apply 邊間esf，priority 點擺

From ESF website:

• All Year 1 and Year 7 applications received within the ‘Central Application Period’ (1 September to 30 September) will receive a computer generated random number. Applications will be ranked by priority category and assigned a random number for central processing. The interview list for each ESF/PIS school is compiled, taking into account the priority criteria, the parent’s preferences, placement availability and requirements in line with the EDB. Transport restrictions into Discovery Bay will also be taken to account for DC processing. Applicants who are not able to gain a first-round interview are waitlisted for their first preference school. Each year, our schools are oversubscribed with applications, and so unfortunately, we are not able to interview all applicants who apply on-time. Year 1 and Year 7 applications received after the Central Application period will be placed on a waiting list in date order of receipt.
  

So my understanding is they are only waitlisted for one school, I.e. their first preference

不用灰心。以我上年個N 無case, RC 通知1st round 無得in。但在1月interview 前約1星期，收email 話有人唔去in, 問我會不會來in. 要一兩曰內覆，因我若唔去，RC 會立即call 下一個。

In完收到waiting offer, 到4月收正式offer.

我是十分好彩，今年行one-form情況又可能不一様。若無backup, 真的可以咩到無。當然，有人會在這情況下買NR, 值唔值就見人見志。

有媽媽WhatsApp group 分享。applicant A , without any priority, apply sjs as first choice, RC as second choice,  and the 3rd and 4th choice are also filled. Applicant A got interview invitation yesterday.

While quite a lot of applicants applied RC as first choice or applied RC as the only choice failed to get any interview.

究竟個system 係點玩法？即係random number 大哂？點擺priority 完全唔重要？

Priority comes before Random number. Random number comes before your preference.That’s what I was told at RC school tour: Applicants are sorted by their random number into a master list. Then the office goes though the list and moves up those who have priorities (with respect to each school), and interview places are given to those with priorities. For the rest, they come back to the master list and give out the remaining interviews by random number. For no.1 on the list, if his first preference is full (e.g. SJS), then he can be allocated to his second preference (e.g. RC). If there are only 10 places for RC, and no.1 to 10 all put RC as their first or second choice, then the interview places will very likely be given to them and no.11 and the rest get no interview.

Thanks a lot for the clear explanation.

Do u know (just for example) if the kid get a good random number, n his 1st choice is sjs, 2nd is RC, n he got interview with sjs....
will RC still interview him?? Or only one interview for him?

Only one interview. If failed SJS, no second chance with other ESF schools.

Omg...in the past, some students got 2 offers...now it seems they only hv one chance... all or nth ....

Just like lucky draw...
all applicants with no priority (eg. 300 applicants ) will go into one pool, have lucky draw... they will be assigned a random number... eg. #1, #2...to #300.
If all the applicants pass the play visit, the child who hv #1 random number will get offer first...
If the school only hv 100 vacancies， the one who is #101 and so on...will be put in waitlist...

Then I assume the good random numbers are whose on the top of list... n it is just a lucky draw...

For those who hv priority (eg sibling) will get a higher ranking random number

呢個都係我對ONE FORM APPLICATION最懷疑既地方...

係同一個 preference 就話可以用random number 分次序

但如果applicant A random number 差去左2nd preference, 同applicant B 去左3rd preference, 咁2nd preference 既A 係咪比3rd preference 既B有priority?

Given they are of the same priority group, if applicant B has a better random number than applicant A, the place should go to applicant B

其實B 已經由第一志願跌落第二志願，咁正常係咪 random# 應該會比 A 在第一志願差呢？
