Yes, I also appreciate TYYC's sharing. S/he was just plainly describing the English level expected at DGJS for P1. I personally think the English taught at DGJS is even more difficult than the level taught at an native schools in the USA or Canada. I believe in both countries, 6 years olds are only expected to learn how to read beginner readers and write simple sentences (mostly with incorrect spellings)! Your child must be exceptionally gifted to be able to follow DGJS's English curriculum with ease!

tyyc之前都有分享她教小朋友的心得，她的小朋友絶對是勁到離晒群果種( 起碼從她的分享中感到)，但我又唔覺得她在show off ，相反我覺得她真的很懂得教小朋友。冇咩問題吖，這些一線名校就係咁深。所以我自己從沒有打算為自己的孩子報這些頂級名校，自問冇本事讀。

HaYi agree ! 如果小朋友本身係未成熟好掛住玩個類, 想逼佢學得深都唔係易, 所以小朋友本身加大人的方法需要很配合, 自問係做不到... too.. 發表於 12-10-17 08:58

其實不要計較自己小朋友水準達到哪一個程度，最緊要求是找到合適自己孩子的學校。

You can read one English story book with your kid together as a bed time story everynight, reading and vocabulary will be improved a lot. You may start from the easy one first, reading does help. We started when our girl was 3 years old.

Kids could do much better than we can imagine, if you read a kid a chapter book when he is four, he will probably pick up that book and read by himself when he turns 6.
Likewise,if a parent really believes that his kid is unable to read chapter books, these books would be out of sight and his precious one will never get a chance to read one!
Everything is possible! Schools kind of have to divide students into different levels but a parent can observe her own child better and tailor made learning materials for him.
Afterall,Mami is a kid's first teacher and best life coach. There's no need to be jealous of others!
