Forget it. The school is putting n applicants on the waiting list. This year is already a bit better, as according to parents last year, everybody not accepted are on waiting list. More practical to look for other opportunities.

To think postively:

The school staff told someone that they had sent out only about half of the acceptance letters before 23 Nov.

There is ony one reported case registered on 27 Nov.  Not sure why only one case is reported.  To think postively, let's assume this is only a special case.

Since there have been many equiry calling to the school, the school had to send out waiting list letters before result announcement of DBS and DBJS (Perhaps, Ying Wah too).

After the result announcement of DBS and DGJS, the school will begin to call for registration again.  As many haven't gone to register on 23 Nov., SSCPS has to call more than 60, even 70, of the waiting list to register in the early Jan. 2010.

This sounds great?!  Ha.

Is that true? They have only sent out offers for 50% of the seats? And they are waiting to send out another 505 offer after Dec? Sounds a bit strange...Why do they want to be so passive and wait until DBS Ying Wah etc to realease results?

The reason is simple.  Because I HOPE SO!!  Ha.

Someone have mentioned that staff said about half were sent out.  But nearly every one believed all 99 letters had been sent.  And no idea why the school didn't send all at one time......it is a mystey.

I do think it will be a chaos in September 2010 because many kids hold 3 or even more seats and will release the seats very late.  SSCPS is just trying to avoid the chaos.

Most likely, many will prefer DBS or DGJS to SSCPS.  Registration after the result announcement of these two schools may avoid people holding its seats until Sep. 2010.

It's just a wild guess.  Maybe the chao doesn't matter at all and the school doesn't need to do much for that.

Despite a reportedly increase in the number of applications, from my observation many people applied this school as a back-up, or just to have their kids get some interview experience.

Ultimately, no many students would accept the school's offer. In order not to waste administrative efforts, the school may delay some final offers. They would offer to those who have a serious and genuine interest.

many use this as a back up...do you think it is mainly becasue of the location and school fee or the teaching quality? Understand DBS DBG are better choices for many parents, but not many can get into DBS DBG anyway.

Assuming SSCPS needs 300 applicants to fill up the 99 seats.

If 1 out of 15 will be accepted by DBS and 1 out of 15 will be accepted by DGJS, there will be about 20 DBS/DGJS in the 300 applicants.

I know Raimondi is around 150 offers & 150 waiting.

99 seats + 200 waiting in St Stephens soudns not too bad

For most people, their first choice is still SPCC/DGJS/DBS. Some friends of mine also like Raimondi, St. Paul Boys, St. Clare, HKUGA, among others.

In light of tuition, location and not very impressive academic result, I don't think SSCPS is many people's first preferred choice.

6 of my friends applied for SSCPS and all used SSCPS as backup choice; and yes, they all got accepted by SSCPS.

3 got accepted by St.Paul co-ed and I heard they have given up SSCPS.  Not sure whether they have registered SSCPS or not becoz I don't know when's St. Paul co-ed sent out the acceptance letter.  The other 3 still waiting for DBS/DGS.  For me, I am on waiting list too

why they only send letters to part of the applicants but not all?

For those who not yet get the letter, does it mean they still have chances for acceptance?

Or those accept the "waiting" letters have higher chances?

It is hard to guess.
