To be fair, students come and go in every school, not only in LS. Some of the premature departure cases could be attributed to academic reasons, but some could be due to other reasons. I don't think the drop-out rate of LS is that high that only 40% of the original P1 class can get promoted to LS College. Furthermore, most schools will not explicitly force students with poor academic performance to leave. In most cases they will exert steady and intense pressure to students and their parents asking for improvement. Many parents will just succumb to the pressure and withdraw their kids.

According to the information on LSPS website (2009-2010 Annual Report), over 80% of 2010 graduates could get in LS College. So 70% is not valid at least for the time being.

LSPS has 6 classes for each grade. In 2011 the average class size from P1-P4 is 30-32; from P5-6, 38-40. This corresponds to about 190 per grade from P1 to P4 and about 230 for P5 or P6.

Unlike LS College which gives the annual drop-out rate in its older annual reports, all we are talking about the LSPS drop-out rate here are just speculations. There is actually a way to learn more. You can find soft copies of current and past LSPS school magazines on its website. The school magazine of a particular year contains the class list of that year. If you compare the P1 class list of say, 2004, with the P6 class list six years later, you can get the upper bound of the replacement number. I say the upper bound because some new and disappeared names may be repeaters, and there could be rare cases that some very bright students might have skipped a grade. So to be exact you will need to look at information from other grades as well. This is a very tedious job. If you have a keen interest you may give it a try.

Well, sometimes it is not difficult to spend a little time checking out the data from schools’ websites. Although quite often you’ll encounter schools that are not transparent at all.

By the way, if you extend your analysis into the LS College side, the results can be quite scary.

if student manage all subject pass, I don't see if there is any 60 or 70 % induction rate.  The whole P.6 will automatically advance to F.1.

咁計40%, 大多top band小學都係咁, 讀唔上會自然流失, 有精英補充, yw如果由p1至p6都係原班學生, 跟本唔可能超越ls, 除非一路有叻學生加入.

你又點知, 一路無叻的學生加入呢 ? 英華中學都有收街外的叻學生.  唔只是p1-6的原校生.

If top student are all from other schools, It could not reflect the real academic standard.

I won't appreciate such method to enhance a school image.  This is Same as hiring sport athletics who are good at sport and swept all champion in school event.

It has nothing relate to the teaching in the school.  They are paid student.  Famous top tier school Use this tactics to win at school event.  I saw a 5'10 teenager who represented a top tier primary school in joint school event.  Of course he won all medals as he has all the muscles on four limbs.

It is very funny to see the race in person for a group of primary boys to compete with a 15-16 teenager or a young adult.

首先多謝各位BK媽咪的意見，部分很有參考價值。在最後註冊限期那天我們帶了孩子去YW＆LS走了一趟，盡量分析和解說這兩間小學的優點和缺點，當然小兒可能只明白部分，但是我們都覺得他也有選擇權利和意見。

恭喜! 我兩個小朋友都是喇沙仔!喇沙不會令你失望的,
外間傳言是不確實的,入得喇沙,誰人都不想離開,離開的部分會去國際學校,小一家長會中,校長開宗明義不會踢人走,成績不好就要努力追趕,放學都有輔導課,這是每所名校必備的。而每年每級都只有十名以下學生離開,為何那麼難入!因很多不想要比貴學費或與入貴族名直資的都想入,聖芳X全級第十名都入不到!扣門更難上加難!我朋友找了五個神父寫信都沒得見!原則上六年級學生
band one - 必收
band two - 要抽籤
band three - 一定唔收
每年大約有80%學生入得書院!相比一些其他名校,我們是非常好的了!今年中學校長Brother Steve Hogan就任,中學的氣氛好到不得了!他參與所有學界比賽,支持所有學生,更為他們上英文課!中學已WIN很多冠軍。舊年會考成績有32個6A以上,A-C%63.96%,總數拿了470多的A。而小學的活動多到你難相信!看你兒子的性向!管樂隊暑假時去了新加坡比賽,參與的學生和家長差不多有200人,而今年更在校際獲得冠軍,梁校長很友善,改革了不少,我們很少宣傳,但家長參與度很高,希望將來見到你!我們每人都以身為喇沙一份子而感驕傲!有空可到中學參加我們的Fun day,你可看到我們喇沙大家庭的面貌:
