I got it in the open day. To my surprise, only 40% of the students do their homework on their own. I think parents nowadays are more anxious than before. Moreover, most of the students can finish the homework in an hr ( forget the %),I think it's reasonable,but to be honesty,I like less homework,and if it can be finished within 30 mins,the boys can have more reading time and time for ECA.
The interesting thing is that, most of the students think Chinese is less interesting subject :cry: and seems it's common in EMI schools.

Anyway,it's only a survey,don't take it too seriously.
I really appreciate the effort of PTA so that I can know a bit more b4 the coming school year.

Does any G1-parent-to-be (2007-2008) know the arrangement of the school for G1-students-to-be in the summer? e.g. school briefing, school uniforms, school bus, lunch order, etc.

Learned somewhere that the school commencement date for G1 will be late Aug. Any news?

Our family has planned a trip out town this summer. Hope it will not clash with the school's schedule. Or, can any existing parents share with us here their previous experience?

I've also heard from a mother of G1 that there were some activities for new pupils in late August.  

We asked the teacher during registration about school buses.  She told us that the school will be sending us informations, including that about school buses, in June.

Heard that the orientation week for G1 students was 20/8-24/8 last yr. The time schedule for this yr is not yet ready.  Maybe we have to wait until June.

I am not a parent of student in DBSPD yet but very much hope that my son can be enrolled into this school.  He is now 6 months old and can you share some information of your successful pathways to have your son become DBSPD's student?  Which KG did you enter and what are the characteristics the DBSPD most valued of?

DBSPD values all achievements of the applicants as long as they have the highest standard.  
It applies to all field of learning-- academic, music, althetics, painting and all others.
DBSPD boys have a very good command of English. They can deal with the English papers of the Hong Kong Certificate of Education when they are in the P4 level and obtain more than 90 marks out of 100.

It is hard to get in but it is worth to get in.
The average background of the parents are much better.

It is 100% true that many boys of DBSPD and other elite schools' students have talents and can manage the English Papers of HKCEE at P4 level. My boy can surf Wikipedia in English.  The papers become much easier because the Exam Authority has to take care of those studying in CMI schools.  Sooner or later, the standard of English of HKCEE will not be recognised by international academic bodies.  What a pity due to those so called educational experts!!


You should admit that there are gifted students whose performance can be much higer than others.

The pianist Aristo Shum of DBSPD is a good example.
Can you realize that a boy aged 10 can earn the highest internation award in piano performance.

So don"t be narrow minded!! haha

My son will be a 07/08 P1 student.  He loves swimming but not very well.  Will he be accepted in the swimming team?  The team will just provide training?
