Actually, my girl will not tell me what she has learnt in school : ) But Chens is right as I can tell they are learning simple concept in English from the weekly memo from school.
In my opinion, I think in K1, we should not expect the school to teach the children very difficult English, like understanding a sentence, grammer or writing simple sentences. I think for K1, the school will mainly teach English through singing English songs, group games and activities. I think listening or speaking English is emphasised first, followed by recognising words/sentences and writing later.
For KCS K1, I learnt from a teacher previously that no homework. I think this is good ga as the children are still so small (actually, I feel released when I heard this), no need to give them too much pressure by doing homework every day in K1. Just let them enjoy their childhood by having fun in school with other children.
In conclusion, I think KCS is better than many local KGs in term of the English exposure as many local KGs only have English lesson once or twice every week. But, if you want your children to have a higher standard in English, I think family education or supplemented by outside English tutors is required.
