Hi Ian,

Thanks for your info on SHCK! I am your "Fans" too!

We got PM offer and SH is really my dream school since we are Catholics. Before making a final decision on KV vs SH.  Could you please share the info of nanny bus services?  since we are living at Lai Chi Kok and travel distance is our main concern.

I called "Koon Chung" and know that the school bus route at Kowloon side cannot be confirmed till July.  The staff told me that if it can be stopped at Lai Chi Kok, that would be route 13, from Tsing Yi to Kowloon Station (if I remember correctly).  Therefore, I would like to contact the nanny bus first and then make the final decision.

Can anyone tell me how much time spend from fortress hill to the kindergarten if taking school bus? i'm worried about that my girl will suffer from motion sickness if the journey is long. as i know, the road is quite busy there.

I am not sure whether this is appropriate to share the administration related matters in this platform. Especially this involve negotiations with the school bus company.

Let's put it this way, at the end, the Kowloon routes are arranged by demand. If there are enough demands (i.e. 15 students per route), I can't see why the school bus company would not be interested. In fact, they should be making quite good profits since the current Kowloon West route have much higher demand than we originally expect.

Why would you throw it away? Not happy with the interview?

Anyway, try to contact the office (2521-0813) and see if they can help you.

Thanks for letting me know you are also my "fans", may be I need to organize a fan club soon!

When my daughter started in SHCK, we have no families living in Lai Chi Kok at all.  Then started last year, there is finally one family and should be in am class I think.  They are being taken care by nanny bus now.

No need to be too anxious now concerning the transportation since the nanny bus company won't give you much commitment at this point of time.  Let me see if we can have a more organized way to collect info from families who live in Kowloon side so to make the arrangement.

Just to share a bit of information.  I was talking to another parent as we were volunteering for the interview.  Their elder son graduated from KV and the young daughter is in SHCK.  According to her, she said the level of difficulty on home assignment are quite comparable between the two.  Of course, we won't have things like dictation and tests here in SHCK as the few hundred different on tuition fees separate SHCK as voucher-receiving and KV being non voucher-receiving.

Ian, no test and dictations?!?! Really?!?! That's changed from when I went to SH kindy then.

Yipee!!!! By the way, is SH theme based or traditional lecture style. Can you pls share with us? Thank you!

我囡囡7:40係城市花園上車, 7:45-50到炮台山, 大約8:15前回到學校, 但放學時因為中環金鐘有時會塞車, 回程會耐d, 有時到站是差不多12:50-1:00.

Well, cannot do everything as you want nowadays.  There are guidelines for non-voucher receiving kindergartens plus assessment from EDB from time to time.

Wow, to go through the curriculum here?  Just in brief lar.  I am very tire already after fighting the fever.  Basically there are prayers everyday to start, with some exercises during gathering.  There are theme books in Chinese and English and also another set for phonics.  Seems those are covered by class teachers.  The English teachers will use their own materials to teach the students, in a separate room.  They will be homework time in class, so they know what they will do and can take home to finish, snack time, etc.

Basically, there will be homeworks everyday starting from K1.  There will be at least one book to read per week.  I think my daughter has like 2 or 3 from time to time (may be some are from my wife).  There will be book reports to do, and also they have small presentation to do in turn, while they bring their own materials (with help from parents at home).

May I ask how about getting into secondary school, say if one study at thte private session of the primary school, does there any advantage/disadvantage of getting into secondary school?

how easy/difficult to get into their secondary school pls?

Thanks for your kind info and hope you can get well soon!!

How can I get the contact info about the nanny bus? And where will they drop down the children? (if not at indoor carpark) It's really need to think whether we need to move to HK island since we would expect to study in one-dragon if we choose to study SHCK.

Knowing from other post, it seems that for girls at SHCK to SH Primary (AM Priviate section), they dont' have to go through interview process if they choose to study at Private section. Is that correct? How many P1 student are from outsiders?

BTW, I really like the teacher who interviewed my daughter... She is very experienced and cheerful...haha...
