Which one would you choose for boy？ Pls. also kindly share your reasons as well.

I know one important consideration is "through traiｎ＂　ｏｆ　ＹＷ　ｗｈｉｃｈ　ＡＰＳ　ｄｏｅｓｎ＇ｔ　ｈａｖｅ．　Ｈｏｗｅｖｅｒ，　ＡＰＳ　ｈａｓ　ａｓ　ｍｕｃｈ　ａｓ　８０％　ｅｎｔｒａｎｃｅ　ｔｏ　Band 1 secondary.

I like both schools and it's difficult to make the right choice.

See my comment:
1. *Go to DBS or similar top-tier secondary school - APS Wins (Mainly due to music achievement. Also, YW students seldom apply DBS.)
2. *Go to band 1 secondary school rate - YW Wins (YW students 100% go to Ying Wa College which is band 1)
3. *Popularity - YW Wins (That means, more parents select YW, more smarter students go there.)
4. *Through-train benefit - YW Wins (Parents usually don't want to play the "game" once more in P6. Note that YW started through-train in 9/2008 and these students are studying P3 now. Current Ying Wa College result doesn't represent through-train result. There is a boost of academic result when they go to secondary school.)
5. *School fee - YW Wins (YW $1500, APS $3xxx)
6. Music - APS Wins (But YW is high level)
7. Sports - YW Wins
8. Easiness of interview - APS Wins (APS 1 round + result about one month but YW 3 rounds + result about 5 months, most stringent interview I ever knew.)
9. Smart students - YW (Due to stringent interview, balanced development of arts & sports, observations from other parents comment in internet and most my personal feeling)
10. School life - YW Wins (12 years school life and relationship with teachers and friends is amazing)
11. Space - YW Wins (APS is small)
12. Activity - YW Wins (YW has many activities tailored for boys)
13. School fit for boys - YW Wins (YW groups boys together)
14. Transportation - YW Wins (Near Nam Cheong MTR station)
15. District - APS Wins if you want to play the "game" again in P6.

Note:
1. From my observation, parents had main concern to factors marked with "*".
2. Some parents had concern to single sex environment in YW.
3. Some parents had concern to compulsory music course in APS.
4. I tried to be fair but there might exist my personal tendency.

Finally, I recommend parents have to find an appropriate level of school best fit your kid's ability and interest.

Thank you so much for your detailed analysis.

My child has been learning musical intrument which will certainly be ongoing and we don't mind about the school fee. APS looks esp. attractive with as many as 30 graduates can enter the top tier secondary school, though I'm really not sure if my child can squeeze in this group.

After all the pain with the primary application, i also fear to do it once again 6 yrs later. YW is much better in this regard. Our major concern with YW is single sex and distance from home.

From following observation and derivation:
1. APS compulsory music course and students practise more time.
2. DBS accept so many APS students due to music achievement (this is also a derivation).
3. Discussion from parents in BK and internet about APS music achievement.

In general I think APS music achievement is better than YW but for top and potential music talents, I dare not to say.

For fact, I do wish anyone could tell me.

I agree with you too. Among all the primary schools, APS is certainly among the top tier as music achievements are concerned.

From what you said, is it true that many top primary accept their graduates because of music, but not academic side?

Is is bias to say that those famous secondary schools accept APS students are just because of music. Music plus good academic performance makes those APS student outsanding.

宣小在校際音樂節結束後曾在「最新消息」欄把獲獎名單列出來，但現時已收番埋，改列出近兩個月在其他比賽的得獎資料，如朗誦、體育活動等。

其實要將不同類型的學校去比較實在很困難，各人所好不同，學生成長經歷更不同！

大家要知道，宣小每年全級的頭三名或在音樂比賽中獲得大獎的學生，很多時更會轉了去其他更著名的一條龍「名校」，因此最後參加中一派位的宣小小六學生能取得不錯結果，委實難能可貴！

同學中不少奇人異士，例如一個小女孩，小一下學期已加入兩個樂團，校際小提琴、普通話朗誦冠軍，品行甲等...

這些奇人異士我相信是父母功勞多過學校, 怎會半個學期就那麼勁？就算不讀宣小也會很突出，所以不要聽埋以為讀宣小音樂一定會很叻。
我認會學校會有很好的幫助，最重要是父母栽培！

音樂叻的學生, 除了天賦, 勤力, 好重要係家庭既financial support. 我識果個亦係宣小讀既學生, 每年都去歐洲跟名師深造violin, 佢個琴over $100,000, 我就真係負擔唔起喇 !

講小一我見過有學生入學前以經考完5級, 唔知8歲定9歲考入演藝, 同樣都係屋企栽培.

我兒子是前宣小畢業生，現在高中。找到一張2005年57屆音樂節宣小得獎名單，每年音樂節後都發給家長。該年冠亞季奬各有二三十多個。學校給予學生一良好音樂培養環境，無論天賦與否，都容易上手。現在中學比賽，畢業自宣小的，出色也不少，近年通利或栢斯公開賽，冠亞都有。

學業不說了，相信很多中學名校都知道。當年兒子小六時，HY和DBS都有教師到宣小觀課。派位後一中等成績同學到HY扣門都收咗，沒有特異功能。以兒子所知，中等成績同學，上到一級中學，都讀得上。DBS出過二個升自宣小會考狀元。今年兒子話，認得一高考狀元是宣小師兄，讀WFN轉上恒商。

宣小學生十分忙，唔係個個幸苦，絕大部分能升到不錯中學快樂自信。去年升中一位爸爸宣小女兒，小六成績中等，在一間不錯直資中學，中英數音，幾乎科科全級第一。幾年來已在其網誌分享過她小學時快樂童年。
