Hi Martie,

Undoubtedly it's an ideal IS but colleagues of my husband all say their children go to here and there for tutorials in order to be competitive enough to survive at school. Quite tough! CIS is a very academically-driven school similar to SIS. If you want a more relaxing environment for true learning, perhaps you need to apply for a few more IS before you make the decision as to where you send your child to. But I'm sure your child can get used to the CIS environment soon (since he's from a local school). Good to give it a try.

Let me tell you MYP's workload is very heavy. My boy is now in Year 6 with another IS working on PYP and he has to work till late at night. (He is said to be advanced, the top of his class but he still needs to work...till sometimes over 10 pm.)

Good luck to your child anyway.

Are you saying that your kid is now studying in P6 at CIS but already started the MYP? What made him work that late? Project or homework? What shall I expect in terms of academically driven? Lots of exams or tests? Thanks

I want to know more about it too.
Mingmingyinyin, can u share which IS your child is in now? My child will be having interview for CDNIS this year and CIS next year. Have always heard that PYP schools are not good at equiping a student with a strong foundation in basic knowledge and stuff like English and math. Coz they only put all focus on the IB materials and learner profile. Want to hear more about the PYP and MYP of different schools.

In reality almost every school has a long waiting list. Famous schools like CIS it is even more difficult to get in. Most parents don't have a choice of one good IS in primary and another Good IS in secondary. Getting in any IS is difficult, especially for Chinese parents. Over analyzing British primary curriculum compared with IB PYP is not a good use of time. School is more important.

The more bizzare a thing is, the less mysterious it proves to be.

Nope. They already said interviews might not be arranged for every applicant! My relatives failed too.

I was informed by CIS to pay $2000 for interview (observation seeion and parent meeting) in Dec.

Any chance to get in ???

Feel sorry but may I ask the reason why they just reject the interview? All children supposed to have the chance of interview, is it right?

Becos I'm very interested in CIS and will definitely submit the application for 2014-2015 reception year for my 2 years old gril. And for next year, she will first study at York International AM session for a whole year.

I dunno probably becoz my son is in a local kg and we r not passport holders. Even if we hv an interview it's hard to get in. Siblings already took up most of the seats

I think they changed admission process from this year.
Last year, I think all the applicants took assessment.
But I really have no idea how they choose who goes second stage...

You should read through their admission policy. They claimed that there are an increasing numbers of applicant that they can't offer interviews for everyone. Have that said, they have resources to drill through that 8 pages of questionnaire that applicants submit ( wonder or not!) and select some for interview. So the first screen is probably a screening of parents.

Yes I used quite a lot of time to complete the questionnaire too but maybe my son or us are not who they r looking for.

We just received the invitation letter for interview. But was told only 5% of the chance to get in. My friend's daughter was admitted last year, who was in local kg and without any family background. But she was just a really good and matual girl in adult's eyes.

May I know who you are told about the 5% entry rate? I suppose you are applying for reception with 88 intakes. If only 5% will be taken, then she might need to interview candidates? but I must admit that the completion is very keen.

My cousin and my friend do not got interview offers. They are with good background. One of them are with US passport where parents hold US and canadian passport and graduated from overseas University. The girl speaks english n mandarin and studies in international kg. really have no clue how they select.
