My kid just got accepted, but we would like to know more about it.  I don't have friends' kids studying there, hope that some parents could genuinely share with us here:

1.  How frequent are Chinese and English dictation?  Once every week for each, or every other week?  About how many sentences or vocabulary for each dictation?

2.  How many times of assessment for each school year?

3.  How wide is the scope for half-yearly or yearly exam?  E.g. Exam will cover the whole semester or cover second half of what they've learned in a semester?

4.  What's the marks for failing?  50 or 60?  How would a student be considered by the school to repeat a grade?  One core subject failed?  Any such standards in the school?

5.  What're the core subjects that would account for most grades?  Only Eng, Chi, Math and Gen Study like most gov't schools, or few other subjects would account for similar percentage in overall academic results?

6.  Are kids allowed to run during recess?  Are kids required to learn at least one musical instrument?

7.  How many English native teachers teaching in the school?  Or they only teach English subject?

Many thanks in advance

Many many thanks for your sharing.  May I ask further info:

1.  On average, how many pieces of homework everyday and on Friday?  Can you give me detail no. of homework that is to do correction only and to do from scratch?

2.  In particular, for Chinese and Math, would there be more than 1 piece of homework everyday?  Or normally one piece of each subject?

3. How long your kid could finish homework at home for Grade 1, 2, 3?

4.  Which publishers that the school used for Chinese, English and Math?

5.  Which subjects are taught in Mandarin, Cantonese and English?

6.  From which grade that boys could to play team sports?  Which sports are available to choose, and which sports  is relatively strong.

Many thanks

Does the school pick "strong academic student" to join special or gifted lessons?   ON the other hand, does the school give support to weak academic student?  Thanks.

Hi,
Could you please elaborate more about how 真道好有國際學校 feel?  I just know students are allowed to run around in the school during recess.  What other aspects that the school has what it got in an international school?

thanks

1) What I know about Logos is their students are relatively active, and the way of teaching require a kid to learn in a proactive way.  So I wonder if a kid's character is a bit shy and is less initiated due to he's a observing ppl, what kind of difficulties he may have in order cope with the environment, which include learning and making friends in the school?

2)  Search from previous posts that starting from the 3rd school year, the amount of homework/projects increase significantly.  May I ask existing parents how your kids cope with the change?  Which area the kid needs to have more brush up?  Is it language or subject substances?

3)  Do you see the school's English language is strong enough to support their students to attempt IB? As English proficiency is very demanding in order to obtain good marks in IB.

4)  Do most Logos primary students promote directly to its secondary?  Or some of them leave Logos?  For those who leave Logos, where do these student go?  For overseas study or change to another local school?

Sorry for so many questions.  Hope someone could share with me.

Thanks.

..慢熱、內斂及觀察型之小朋友....

Thanks for sharing with me.
If looking from another angle, do you see the teaching approach of the school helps a kid with such character to gradually become less shy, more confident, and more initiated? Or it impose stress on the contrary?

Furthermore, are there a lot of project-based learning that kids are required to form groups to discuss, to present things in front of others?  Are there some workshop or activities that the school offer to develop children's communication skills?

Know that the school does put focus on science subject, and even has experiments for P1.  Do the kids love the science subject?  How about yours?  Do you see the science subjects are especially unique from other local school and is inspiring?

Thanks.

3)
學生多數喜愛科學堂,我家孩子也喜歡。真道的科學堂很獨特及有啟發性,聽聞是現任校長當年有份編制的。
This is definitely the thing I like about, 'cause boys like science and experiments.  I also know that the new Principal's background is very strong in science / physics.
