小六畢業，如果想即刻去英國，應該報 year 8, 唔係 year 7.
或者，在香港讀 F.1, 去報 year 9, 下年先去讀

唔關叻唔叻事，英國學生11歲入讀 Year 7，11歲的學生在香港是讀P.6, 所以香港的小六學生畢業後去英國係要讀Year8的。原因係，英國小學生係5歲讀Year 1, 佢地preschool讀兩年，3歲入讀。香港國際學校，例如英基都係咁。

不過yr 8係要插班，相對yr 7會唔會無咁易入？而英國yr 7課程又同香港P6一樣嗎？如果唔同，咁樣跳班會唔會跟唔上，因為yr 7始終係中學，所接觸嘅課程同小學應有分別！

英國私校一般各級都會有位。公校就要睇情況。但其實Year 7,8,9,10都有人入。有啲英國文法中學(grammer school) 係由 Year 9 為開始收生，Year 9 先係第一年。
Year 7 課程當然同P.6唔同，但係，唔代表Year 7 深過P.6. 反而係淺左，特別係數學。
當然，讀多一年冇問題嘅，但如果係多 locals 讀嘅學校，會大其他小朋友一年囉。
讀多年書都好嘅，學好啲英文，法文同埋西班牙文。其他科就好淺。

P.6轉去Year8, 唔可以話跳班，我認為一定跟得上。
不過英國真係冇中文讀，有都係幼稚園程度，個人認為俾子女在港讀埋F.1 或 F.2, 跟住先去英國讀Year 9較好。

阿細去年剛讀F. 1, 經AA申請2間排名100以內的私校，2間都建議收他今年跳班讀F.3，結果我交了一間留位費俾他2014年不跳班讀Year 9.

友人的小六兒女申請一些很好口啤極佳的學校如Winchester，Kings Canterbury等也收他們跳班讀year 8，相信年級越低越易跳班.

CPU, Winchester & King's Canterbury 這兩間學校是沒有Year 8的。King's 有自己的junior school, 但很少收year 8,因為year 8 尾要考common entrance (13+) 而不是直升上senior school.
不過我非常同意年級越低越易跳班。

smallfoothk 13+ mock paper很難,在海外留學10-20页間在講英國 mock paper,自己唔識做,因冇學奧數發表於 13-1-18 11:11

2個朋友的兒子應是junior Kings收，我另一朋友也是小六跳班到junior kings year 8,現已在kings讀year 10,她說kings會收哂junior kings所有學生，不過junior kings補英文一年要額外俾收5,000 pounds, Kings就唔收。

唔讀kings senior school有D轉到同區的tonbridge或Sevenoak.

至於Winchester要再問清楚朋友，可能記錯他的兒子是讀tonbridge year 8不是Winchester,無論如何,2間都是極好而唔容易入的好學校。

不錯 King's 的碓會收回大部份 Junior King's 的學生，不過始終不是直升的，還要看13+的成績。
而所有頂級男校如Eton, Winchester, Harrow 和 Tonbridge 皆沒有 Year 8. 它們都是 Year 9 開始的。

My ex-colleague was kidding with me on Winchester and thx for your clarification.

Actually, my friends' two kids admitted by Junior Kings have brilliant academic performance in HK. It is quite strange that Junior Kings refused to admit them for Year 7 but advised them to study Year 8.

However, both have eventaully declined Junior King's offers as their parents like me want to stay with their beloved sons for the next two years.

Junior king's normally divide their candidates into 3 groups:
1) top students get invited to sit theor scholarship exam
2) 2nd group will be guaranteed a senior school place provided they pass their 13+ exam
3) 3rd group will not be guaranteed a senior school place but can still get admission into senior school if they do well in the 13+ exam
Most of the time, Junior King's is reluctant to take in Year 8 students because there isn't enough time to prepare them for the 13+ exam.
I guess your friend's children probably did well enough to be guaranteed a senior school place so they are happy to offer them a Year 8 place (they are most likely to be age appropriate for Year 8 instead of Year 7 too).
