Some interesting news for S1 - S3 parents, my boy told me yesterday that the school is considering not to offer combined science subject for next year's S3 students.


The so called phys/chem, phys/bio and chem/bio are funny subjects invented by our witty SAR education department.  Not offering these subjects would be good news for the junior boys.  However, it is just news from an unreliable source, my boy, S3 parents can find out more from the school in the forthcoming S3 parent mtg on 2nd March.

早一點時間，學校派過贊助校刊（弘道就是校刊）表格，您有沒有訂購?

學校圖書館應該有從前的供借閱。

好消息，相信會增加，但可能還是供不應求，現時最少位是物理，但物理不容易讀得好。

Yes, in this year S4 there are only 60 places for Physics.  Learning from my son's mid-year exam report, only about 50 students are taking biology.

Physics 60
Chemistry 91
Biology 47
M1 & M2 combined around 80 (the school must have imposed some selection std for M1&2.)
no figures for CS

I guess that biology is the less chosen subject because many Class C and F students take Phy, Chem & Eco or Phy, Chem & IT.

The two exams should be carrying same weighting, can other parents help to clarify?    In the second half of S3 everyone works harder to fight for places they wish.  S3 is really the most decisive year apart from the DSE exam.

Just have a chat with a friend, he reckons that Geography, History or even Chinese Literature can be better choice than taking Economic as third elective.   Anyway, he just proposes a very eccentric opinion about learning.

Please give a lot of encouragement and love.   Science stream is not necessary the only choice for boys.
