elock, I am not disagreeing with you. I also found that there are quite diverse views about the school workload. Some parents are talking about too heavy and some too light. I am just the lucky one who find the workload appropriate.

The curriculum in ISF is definitely demanding comparing to other IS mainly because it is trying to push every student to achieve a good standard of Chinese. You know learning Chinese there is no easy way out but of course if you send you kids to a real IS you may choose not to study Chinese so hard. For English subject, I do not think it is demanding at all based on what I heard from friends with kids in real IS.

I think there is a large range of parenting styles as well.  We have no tutors and we don't help them with dictation or other works unless they asked for it.
今日佳句: 我以往也以為國際板的家長也有質素,但現在才知deal with 一些麻煩家長也不易!

Here are some points worth noting for potential ISF parents: (a) homework now, starting from Foundation Year, is already much tougher than before; (b) extra Chinese tutorial is common especially if one is non fluent in Mandarin; (c) non suitable school for working parents with long and fixed working hours; (d) a school standing between local school and international school; (e) not a well rounded school, concentrating mostly on academic; (f) lots of emails every week from the school.
Personally, I think this school should not be considered as part of international schools in Hong Kong.  Having a non-working parent is really critical for good monitor and progress of your kid's schoolwork.  Afterall, does it sound like typical famous local school?

I believe this is one of the most accurate picture on ISF. Funny though, those active ISF bashers here know so little and keep on attacking the feasibility of bilingual development (more precisely on the standard of english), which is not at all a real concern.

This is also a major reason why ISF has, relatively, more students leaving to other IS or LS, i.e. the expectation gap, that some parents do not do enough homework beforehand.

Nonetheless, this approach also attracted huge crowd of parents and many love it (and indeed help to push towards this direction), as they consider many other IS like ESF as too hea and are destined only for under performers.

I know some kids from IsF, overall their Chinese standard is quite high but the English standard is lower than other IS. And I noticed that they have a preference for Chinese reading in their free time rather  than english reading. Also many parents are rich mainlanders and the parents usually speak Mandarin among themselves.
