Of course St. Clare's.

St. Clare's has an EMI secondary school while True Light Secondary is a CMI one.

Thanks all, I understand what is EMI and CMI now.

I will definitely vote for St. Clare's. In fact, I'm an old girl from there. For your info, the discipline at my time was quite strict. For instance, hair accessories could only be in red, blue or white, not any other colour. Of course, we were not happy at that time, but it is really a kind of training when we look back.

The English standard is pretty high too, especially in secondary school. Except Chinese, Chinese history and Religious education, all other subjects were taught in English.

不計地區, 應選St.Clare's , 但如果住九龍, True Light 都不錯.

當時去註冊, 佢係講明唔可以, 話學校發現會out去waitlist
但我聽過有bk家長話專登打去問校長, 話長話抽得唔好, 歡迎返去st clare's再問wor
好似呢幾年st clare's收生都唔係非常非常理想, 所以想叩門都唔難, 不過隨住st clare's轉左校長(mrs. alice wong from marymount), 新人士新作風, 比以前aggressive同埋開明, 又轉左全日英小, 相信黎梗幾年會多人爭d
所以我今年無搏lu, 唔敢抽(可能我蠢左呢...)

好似唔係學位減半, 因為以前(好似)係一年返上晝, 一年返下晝
只係小一入學既人數無變, 而家學生多左, 迫d姐

"一年返上晝, 一年返下晝"係st clare's 的傳統, 20多年前已經如此. 係上晝及下晝都同時有一年級至六年級的,如你今年上晝明年便下晝.

Thanks for the advice. This is really a dilemma situation as I live in the Kowloon side. I went to the orientation day of St. Clare's in late 2005 and I was impressed by the school's culture like putting great emphasis in english, encouraging students to learn from all aspects and yet advising parents not to be too harsh with their girls by pushing them in tutorial class after school. I really like St. Clare's better than True Light (Kowloon Tong) because of these reasons. Of course, I believe True Light won't be too bad as it's a traditional christian school. A friend shared that the teachers there are full of kindess to the students. However, it is a CMI. Perhaps I should ask True Light and see if they will also arrange an orientation in the very near future so that I can learn more about the school.

我女女係大坑真光幼稚園讀緊, 都有部分家長有小朋友已經升小, from佢地既comments, 真光小學部都偽循序漸進, 功課唔會話太大壓力, 而其實我係好鐘意真光既, 因為佢真係俾到個大家庭feel我, 我係一個working mom, 一年返學校都係得幾次, 但學校營造左一個好warm既環境, 家長與家長之間, 見到面都好開心好close
真光既中文水準, 真係幾深下, 我女女而家日日寫日記, 平均都有3-4句, 一般k3小朋友識既字真唔小, 例如已經學左"聽音樂", "飛機", "車輛", "設施"等, 而且train得小朋友好獨立好識照顧自己, 好有愛心, 呢樣我真係要讚一讚
至於st clare's, (平心而論呀下, 唔arm聽唔好鬧我, somehow我女女都好大機會好讀架), 以前好多人唔鐘意, 因為佢d老師比較傳統, 無咁有愛心, 唔太關心小朋友需要, 比較傾向谷成績, 至於功課壓力, 唔多唔小總有d, 可能mrs wong係新人士, 所以佢話想小朋友學習得愉快d(個orientation我都有去 ), 唔知係咪真係做得到呢?
st clare's既英文程度, 我都幾肯定比真光好, 呢樣可以話係我要女女轉校既重要&唯一原因, 就算以前係中小, sc已經要小朋友睇好多英文reader, 何況而家轉左英小, 英文程度應該會更加好lu
希望幫到你, 我都係知幾多講幾多, 有咩得罪左, 請各位唔好見怪

我囡囡係聖嘉勒讀緊, 我真係好鍾意而家個新校長, 好開通, 又好nice, 所以學校比以前透明好多.  

功課方面真係一點也不算多, 我囡囡通常一個鐘頭內可以完成.  

英文方面, 因為小一時老師已經用英語教學, General English外又有Reader, 而常識自小四開始, 一半改用英文, 所以聖嘉勒的英文絕對不錯.  

不過, 我覺得最好是其校風純樸, 你如果過學校參觀, 便會感覺到無論老師定學生, 見到你都好有禮貌, 呢D就係傳統名校的好處.

breefan 說得對, st  clare's 的學位的確是減少了 (不過該校只是開始 phase out 半日制, 所以我這說法只是就已轉制的班級, 而且有冇少一半就唔知), 在旻旻說的"一年返上晝, 一年返下晝" 時, 一晝最多有3/4班 ,上下午加埋7,8班, 但現在小一 (全日制)total只係4 班。而且每班人數都減少了,由以前的>40人, 減至30幾人。

下午班
小一2班 56人   
小二 3班 93人   
小三 3班 80人   
小四 2班 60人   
小五 3班 86人   
小六 2班 69人   
總數 15班 444人  
under上下午制, 一半人返學, 即係有400幾人share一個校園啦, 但而家轉左全日, 如果照收2班, 第2時就話校園夠用姐, 如果收3or4班, 第2時全部學生返晒學, 咪好迫lor
  
查實st clare's黎梗打算每年收幾多小一生呢....???(我打去學校問, 佢地話佢地都未決定wor....)

I still have a few more months to explore these 2 schools and I keep on asking other friends if they know anyone's daughters who are currently studying in these 2 schools. So far, I have many positive comments on St. Clare's from different people, but only 1 brief comment on True Light (Kowloon Tong).

For your info, Charlotte mom, St. Clare's offers 3 classes for P.1(whole day class) in the school year of 2005/6.
