天使面,

係呀, 完全未開始背. 賓賓走佬搞到我失晒預算, 現在又家務又返工, 仲要成日去shopping買返唔見的日常用品, 跟功課都冇時間, 何況跟乘數表?

好彩份工唔辛苦, 如果唔係都好"敗艾"!

仔仔只識2同5 的乘法, 因為是用加上去的方法. 希望呢個weekend可以開始. 是否背的次序為: 2,5,9,3, 之後先4,6,7,8? 4,6,7,8較難, 如何才容易記?

以前個大女是在學校搞定, 完全不用我操心, 以家的小朋友好叻, 唔知老師會唔會follow, 定係預期個個應都己識背?

Tingmum,
My son memorized the multiplication table in ~May this year when he learned Kumon at that time. Then we quited Kumon. He rejoined Kumon again in Nov and he memorized the 9x9 table again. Now, he started to do the exercise of 2 digits multiply with 1 digit. The key learning from the Kumon is that you memorize 1 series in 1 day and do extensive ex. on that day, ~100, e.g. 4 x 3, 5x3, 7x3 etc...So, by 9 days, you can memorize and apply it very well.
This method applies well for my son but may not be applicable for all kids, especially those "can't sit long". If so, you may need to make more fun for them to memorize
e.g. I give you $1 a day, how much you will have 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks etc.. an apple costs $4, how much it costs for 8 apples ...
Also, you find that the patterns of 8 and 9 are very interesting :
8 9
16 18
24 27
32 36
40 45
48 54
56 63
64 72
72 81
80 90
If you add each individual digits of 3 or 9 mutliples, the sum will be dividable by 3 and 9, e.g. 741 is dividable by 3 and 7+4+1=12 is dividable by 3 too.
Hope this help. (silver_ng suggestions are good too. I also read a method of memorize 9 by using fingers, but I don't like it for bigger kids as it looks odd to hold fingers during test.)

TINGMUM：

數學之於我來說係外星符號，睇見d 數學題個腦即刻實晒。

唸乘數表之前，我都先以2、3、5 去解釋乘數表的由來....
剛才囡囡講返，原來老師會在班上成日同佢地背，好似仲會叫小朋友個別唸畀老師聽，應該唔會預期小朋友識晒返去。

琴日見女佢做功課時想照抄乘表答案，我叫佢唔好抄自己唔識背就慢慢加，等佢加強乘數的概念，免得強記答案仲係唔明其中道理。轉頭見佢到畫波浪線的方法逐組加上去，話老師係咁教.....似乎得到老師教授後，呢個同阿媽一樣個腦對數係咁鈍的女開始明白(之前我解佢唔太明

)，希望以後d 數佢都過到關啦

。

個賓近月一再而三收到欠款信加財務信, 我話過佢, 佢亦有駁嘴, 之後竟在沒有通知下執野(包括我d野)走左! 真係好過份!

呢輪我最忙當然是準備冬天校服同衣物, 好彩不是在考試期間走!

天使麵 ,

可能係我見考試將近, 心急左, 個仔昨日話老師叫佢地背2,5 同10. 見佢都handle 到, 相信你個女咁叻, 更加沒有問題!

人多好辦事, 經各家長分享提點, 我打算逐日背一行, 另加些乘法computer games, 希望兩星期內可以完成task!:D

As you mentioned, pretty busy for the daily homework, TOBS, dict. etc. Also, we like to do the internet homework, so after finish all the internet homework (Chinese a day a passage, Planet ii, SmartABC..), we already need to go to bed immediately.
BTW, I found that some of the questions in the English reading comprehension are very tricky, e.g. the recent ex. of a story about the bicycle, I have no idea which one is the best answer for the title of that story. I found that in the Eng. test paper II too. Basically, I like this approach, but for some questions, seems too tricky or too ambiguous for a P.2 kid? Even I don't know what does the teacher want them to answer (maybe it 's because of my poor English)?? If other parents have the same feeling?

Very quiet for P.2 parents. Must be very busy for the kids revision....

I did take half day off for the past few days for my son revision, but not for today, so a good break for myself and for him.

So far, my son still said that he doesn't know how to revise the lessons. He relies on me very much. Just wonder how about the other kids????

For the exam, so far, my son said that they are pretty easy, easier than the tests, how about the others??? But it may be he doesn't want to scare me as there is a part of Eng. Paper II, he only wrote 27 words (he said that the question said "ABOUT 30 words") and he is not sure a portion of the story on Captain Underpants.
