Hi! ms,

As I know, there is not only 20 mins English lesson everyday in K2.  The English teacher will teach the children phonics, reading, oral and she also teach them music by grouping.  Anyway, let me check the details with the English teacher and let you know later.
My son is attending 2 English courses in Nottingham
and 2 English courses in Ceces.  I think these 4 extra English lessons must help him to keep up the English standard.  My friend's daughter was St.Catherine's graduate, she told me that she didn't let her daughter to take any extra English lessons when she was in K2, she also can keep up the English standard.

How about you?  What English course is your daughter attending?

Hi! yho,

When my son was in nursery class(K1), he just attended one English playgroup in Nottingham.
As I want him to learn more English under pleasure environment, in fact, for those useful courses, such as phonics, reading, oral....... are suitable for the kid who is in K2, as the content of the courses are quite difficult.
In my opinion, you can try to let your kid to take some useful English courses when he/she is in K2.

其實, St.Catherine o係 Nursery class(K1) 時, 確實很寬鬆, 逢Wed 有功課(只係聯線), 逢Fri 就有親子功課, 無乜功課壓力, 小朋友可以在傱遊戲中學習, 特別係英文, 自從我個仔讀左 St. Catherine 後, 真係睇住佢進步。
不過, 到左lower class(K2), 就開始有功課, 每日兩樣, 仲有dictation, examination, 再吾係好似nursery class o甘 free, 所以我都吾太擔心升小學時會很辛苦。

Actually my daughter was attended a English playgroup in K1. But in this term, she join another actives instead of Eng playgroup.

SO, I may need think more.... about her English lesson again.

Hello CD,

I agree with you. My daughter know a lot of Chinese words as she need to complete reading one Chinese story book every week in K.2.
You may know that they do not write many Chinese words, so my daughter recognizes the words but she does not know how to write or the words are too difficult at her standard to write.
She also recognizes many English words as well.
However, she has the interest in reading, therefore I do not push her much.

my daughter study in st. cath. K.2 Lower Brown .
there are 30 children in a class. they got one Eng. teacher and one Chin. teacher and one assistant teacher only. how about your class? I knew that some class are only 18 children.

Hi! ms,

My son is attending Ceces' Lily playgroup, Nottingham's oral lesson, storyland now and will be attended Ceces' Phonics Plus unit 2 in the end of Sept. (He has finished unit 1 in the end of August)
These courses are useful and he can learn a lot under pleasure environment. He loves to attend these courses too.

My son is in K2 now, I'm not busy in getting primary school, but I'm busy in getting some more information about primary school.

Actually, I don't know 幾耐有一次exam and dictation in K.2. As my son is in K2 now. I remember that the first school day when I accompanied with my son to school. His class teacher said she'll give the notice to parents before every mental revision.(dictation, test)
But she'll not tell us the exact date, she just tell us in which week.

Dear all,
After reading all your messages and opinions, I would like to ask one question : Is that necessary or recommanded to take extra English course while studying in St. Catherine? Are these courses that you take outsider?
Cause we are planning to send my girl to this school and are wondering whether it will be affordable for us to accommodate the school fees also the extra courses.

My daughter has a simple homework yesterday and today (writing Chinese numbers).She is happy when doing this work.
Her teacher is quite senior . they have taught 5-8 years in St. cath. they are nice too.

I did not join the English course for my daughter .
however , I let her to join science playgroup in Science Workshop when she was in K.1 and in YMCA during summer holiday. Science playgroup is taught in English . She also learn ballet and drawing last year.
now , I will only arrange swimming , ballet and science playgroup for her.
I will help her to learn phonic at home using letterland ( phonic materials ).

Hello yoyo-mother,

My daughter studies in Upper 9. There are 32 children in my class. They also have got 3 teachers. But the teacher says that the English teacher will stay longer for larger classes.
