If applicant's sibling is a student of the primary school then the school MUST accept him/her (no need to count points).

If applicant's parent works in that primary school then again, MUST accept (no need to count points).

Others will need to count points - if mom or dad is an alumni then the applicant gets 10 points.  If mom and dam is on the "board of governors" or "school council" (or something equivalent) then 20 points.  If mom or dad works in the SECONDARY school of the primary school then 20 points.  If first born then 5 points.  

But you can only choose ONE out of the above categories to claim your points (i.e. if mom is an old girl and child is first born, you get 10 and not 15 - naturally you will claim the "mom is an old girl" 10 points rather than the "first born" 5 points).

Then if the applicant has the same religion as the school, 5 points.  

Then if applicant is ofthe right age, 10 points.

For example:

Mom/dad alumni (10)

same religion (5)

right age (10)
total 25.


Mom/dad is on the school council (20)
same religion (5)
right age (10)
total 35.

First born (5)
Same religion (5)
right age (10)
total 20


First born (5)
right age (10)
total 15.

Before the number, there is an "A" or "B". Mine is "B18X". There are tabels to do the registration.

I check my registration (15 marks) and my friends registration (20 marks) No. are also "B"xxx, Is that  a different if No. "A" or "B"???

算啦, 其實300個, 400個都無分別, 分同唔分AB. 15分都應該無可能入到.  睇其他topic話協恩有大約20個必收既, 咁當St.Mary都係咁上下.  剩番44個位, 300個入面無多過40個有20分以上既, 都無咩可能啦.  唉..等第2round 啦.  如果只係大約300人報第1round, 咁第2round都未必無希望o咼..

請問有幾多31網既會繼續報St.Mary 做第一志願呢?  大家會點排呀?  我驚我填唔到5間呀.. 第二志願會填咩呢?  死啦, 私校我又無間真係想入既..打到底,派得唔好, 都係唔開心..  呀)))) 我好憎d個遊戲同制度呀.

I agree with you JJ, there's no difference between 300 and 400.  My kid was admit last year to St. Mary because I am an old girl.  We go 25 marks.  The number we've got start with B also.  I suspect those start with A are students with sister studying in St Mary currently or mother working in the school.  Since they have 4 classes, 64 students will be admitted in R1.  Taking out 30% for class A, less than 30 seats will be available.
One interesting thing, classmates of my daughter comes from different area.  A classmate with address in Tai Po win the lucky draw in R2.  So the chance in R2 may not be that bad.

My wife is an old girl and we also have 25 points.  Statistically (e.g. for the past few years) would the remaining 70% of round-one places be all taken up by "25 pointers"?

There are 64 places for R1 allocation, but perhaps not a lot would be taken up by those with siblings studying at SMCS (maybe 5 to 10?).  The rest will be allocated according to number of points.  Does anyone know the following figures for last year (roughly)?
(i) the number of applicants with siblings (i.e. "must accept");

(ii) those with 25 points or above;
(iii) those with 20 points;
(iv) whether anyone with 20 points got in during R1.
