Re: Anyone in TutorTime Playgroup? Comment please

Hi DodoluMama,
my girl is 18 mths and is going to TutorTime in Redhill.  Her mandarin teacher is very good.  While the native english teacher is just so-so.   I mean she doesn't appear to be highly devoted to teaching children.  Though, this teacher is going and a new one will join next week.
The usual class begins with songs, then circle time (e.g. each child will take turn to put a real leaf through the mouth of a paper cow), then some eye-hand coordination activities (e.g. scooping rice into cups), then some artwork, and also physical activities in the playground.
The 2 teachers will share the 1.5 hours, 45mins for each session, with a short snack time in between.
For the sessions I went, there are about 7-8 toddlers, with their moms or helpers.
I find my girl talking more after attending the classes.  And she enjoys the activities esp. the artwork and eye-hand coordination activities.   Sometimes she was distracted by the toys on the shelf and walked away from the circle. So, I go to class a bit earlier and let her play with the toys, and this is a good time for her to learn sharing toys with other children ( to learn sharing is my major purpose of putting her in a playgroup)

So, how old is your child ? Are you going to other playgroup now ?

Hi ettawong,

Thanks for your reply. My girl is now 16mths old. She just finished her Kindermusik "Village" class and I want her to try something new.
I live in Kowloon side, and I thinking of enrolling Kowloon Tong campus. I visited their campus last week and found the facilities are good except the class is a bit crowded (13 students + 13 parent/maid).... How many class your baby join a week? 1 or more?

Re: Anyone in TutorTime Playgroup? Comment please

my girl was taking 1 class every week, and will change to 2 classes per week in October.  I think she finds it rather boring to stay home all the time. Agree that 13 students are too crowded, esp. when doing circle time, your baby has to wait too long for activities going one round.  She may be distracted while waiting and I can imagine the class will become quite chaotic.  10 students is almost maximum, no matter how big the classroom is.

How was the Kindermusik class, you think it worth a try ?

doulumama,  when my girl was 14 months old, she attended the summer playgroup at TT, Kln Tong.  5 days a week for a month time.  she enjoyed it a lot but it's quite tiring for me to drive her to school. i think TT is v. commercial and their 'service' may not be value-for-money. there are lots of playgroups that you can choose from in Kln Tong indeed. 13 kids plus parents/helpers are far too crowded.  nottingham children campus is a good choice. i heard that anfield is good too.  the good point at TT Kln Tong is you can park your car i/s the school and for other locations, probably you need to find a parking metre.

Re: Anyone in TutorTime Playgroup? Comment please

Hi Prettywife,

my girl joined the first class last Saturday. Agreed with you the good thing about TT is parking. Even Yew Chung Nursey doesn't have parking area. Their ciriculum is OK, English & Mandarin sessions, but it would be much better if the class is 2 hours instead of 1.5 hours. I heard Nottingham is good too. Should go site visit their campus before enrolled to TT. My decision to go to TT was too hasty.

Ettawong,
Kindermusik "Village" is more for babies. I'm waiting to enrol "Our Time".  My girl learnt a lot in picking up rthym, dance & different moves and she likes the class very much.
