But it is quite hard to predict how big the pool of applicant is. We are talking about competing with everyone around the world practically.
More, anyone has the statistics for HKU and CU or even UST? I think CityU is still less sought after.

I thought IB students are probably in fair grounds with other students taking non-local curriculum (eg IGCSE, or British A level, etc) . Further, I heard that they are looking for unreasonably high IB scores.
But, I understand that lecturers do love to have students from international schools though. However, what lecturers like and what admission policies they have are 2 issues. I would certainly like to hear more views and experience. Thanks.
I think most of the 25% of CityU is from IVE. IS students seldom go to CityU

I feel sorry if the 100 placements example I gave has misled readers. It was just an abstract idea that I want to reflect how big the pool is for Jupas in camparing with Non-Jupas& Int’l students. This idea was from my casual discussion with friends as parents some time ago and some of theseparents are employees of the higher education sector.
I tried to estimate the quotas for the 3 mentioned catergories above, as eg. in 2007, I could only work out the followings:
The FYFD (First year First Degree) places for 2007/08 were ~15200 http://www.ugc.edu.hk/eng/doc/ugc/stat/chart.pdf
Though there are agreements & general policy set up forlocal Us to follow, every U has its own admission criteria & quotas andthese can be changed by the Us from time to time.
I still think that IS students’ major competitors would be studentsfrom DSS & private school who go for int’l exams like IGCSE or IB becauseit is more likely that many of these students would further their studies inHK.
