My boy was borne in late Dec 2005, want to share my experience with you.
When he was in K1 last year, so many of his classmates (especially girls) were one head taller than him.
The comments from his teachers were very consistent throughout the year – his attention was not as good as the other kids, his hands were not strong enough to write properly and most importantly, he was not as confident as the other kids when he saw that so many things that the others could do better than him.
To us, a repeat of K1 is undoubted.
But should he repeat K1, K2 or K3?
All his teachers recommended us to let him repeat K1, otherwise, he will have another year (i.e. K2) that he is not as capable as his classmates, and this they believe will have a great impact on his character, i.e. this (lack of self-confidence) may become his own character that will be difficult to change in the future.
We followed the teachers’ advice and let him repeat K1.
This year, comments from his teachers have been very good, in particular he shown a great improvement in self-confidence, especially in the Show & Tell session.
I believe I have made a right choice. |
