1.Pre-starters考D咩?我聽人講就考口語?即系要同外籍考官對答??

2.Pre-starters系唔系4歲就可以考?

3.系唔系要返深圳考?系邊度考?

4.幾時考?幾時報名?邊度報名?

5.幾多個盾系合格

Dear mummy,

Many kindergarten children take the Starters once they are 5 five years old, so pre-starter seems not a selling point anymore.  I suggest you make use of the time (before your child reaches 5) so that he/she can take the exam once reaches 5!  My child is not yet 6 and he has finished Flyers already.  Last time my friend took her child to sit for the Starters and she said almost all children are very young.  So you can re-consider again.

Dear share123,

I bought all the past papers (e.g. Starters 1 to 6) and CDs published by Cambridge, which you can get all from any bookstore.  Altogether it costs about $2xxx.  I asked my son to do the past papers and then practised the speaking part for him.  If he is willing to do the past papers at home, then you really don't have to join any course.

I think doing past papers is a common way of achieving this exam. But it is difficult in listening part  and keeping them doing the whole set of exercises a at home.  
I wonder no centres are willing to accept the pupils are younger than 5 yrs old. If any, please advise.

Dear share123,

I asked my son to spell all, so now he can spell all the words in the vocab list from Starters to Flyers.  Personally I think there is no harm to learn more, but for exam purpose, I think you don't have to ask your child to spell all.  The focus is:

1.  the nouns, including food, transportation, colour, clothes.....
2.  the verbs, mainly those action words such as "point", "smile", "jump", etc.  Quite often they ask the present continuous tense of these words.
3.  for adjectives, it seems less important.

Sorry, forgot the speaking part.  I think that part is quite simple.  I just pretend to be the examiner and asked him questions based on the requirement listed in the handbook.

Some centres offer courses for those less than 5 yrs old, but those courses usually do not focus only on past papers, and usually they will ask you to complete a more than 40 lessons course as they say they are not "exam oriented".  So you can just join the course as an ordinary English course, and then sign up for the exam.  If not, then the only way is to ask the child to do the past papers at home.

According to my experience, listening and speaking are not the difficult parts, reading and writing seems to be the more difficult one.  To be honest my son is the type who can "sit down for a long time" to complete tasks, so that's why I didn't join any course.

Pre-starter - full mark is 5 sausage instead of shields for starter level or up

好多謝你既意見.我主要系唔知點考,所以唔知點train. 做past paper應該會好有效,但好似貴左d,請問有無d其他資源可以運用呢?

我覺得坊間的課程太長,等到頸都長先考得,真系有d無奈.

I think most centres charge about $200 even for group class?  Or maybe close to $200.  Some of them say you need to join for about 40 classes, that means close to $8000!  Really too expensive!
That's why I bought the past papers and let my child do at home.  I think you may try to buy 1 or 2 sets first, then you'll know his standard.  If he is willing to do by himself and if you think his standard is OK, then you can buy the rest of them and you still save a lot than joining courses!
