I am a parent of a P1 student and yesterday I went on the school picnic with my son. I had a very good experience on the day and really want to share it with all of you.
As I am pregnant, I spent most of the time sitting on a bench in a sheltered area watching my son riding a bicycle with his classmates. Then two students came to the bench that I was sitting. They asked politely whether they could leave their bags there. Of course, they could!
Afterwards, they were trying to put some toys such as arrows and toy guns into their backpacks. The toys were nice and I thought my son would also like them. So, I asked them if they bought them from the campsite or outside. They said the toys were sold at the kiosk which is located up the slope. Then I told them that it was really too harsh for me to go uphill, so I thought I could not buy any for my son. After hearing this, they said that they could help me to buy the toys. I was deeply touched! They didn’t know me but they were very helpful. I told them that it was too exhausting to go uphill and down there again. They said they didn’t mind as long as they could help me with that. Finally, I turned down their kind offer as I didn’t want to exploit their precious play time. They reconfirmed that I really didn’t need help and they went cycling. They were very very nice and thoughtful.
After a while, another boy, an upset one, sat on the other end of the bench. He was sobbing as he cut his finger carelessly while cycling. Although the staff there had already helped him sterilize the wound, he was still very sad. Then, two teachers came to comfort him and help him wrap the wound. They were very caring and they said a lot to cheer him up. Later, several of his classmates also came. They tried to console him and promised to stay there with him instead of going to other places to play… Finally, the boy felt much better and smiled again.
The above two events have deeply impressed me. I feel that the students from APS are really nice, helpful and sympathetic. They have excellent academic performance and are morally good. Besides, the teachers are also caring and patient. No wonder it is so popular among parents, including me!
