Hi,

Anybody has comment on the standard of their Chinese language studies?

-Is it much worst than local school?
-Do they teach in Putonghua?
-How often do they teach Chinese?
-Do most of the parents need to have external teacher to teach their kids Chinese?

thanks a lot.

If u look for good Chinese standard, I m afraid RC may not be your cup of tea.  Instead u can consider Canadian Int'l, ISF, KCIS, VSA or CKY etc.

1) It is much worst than local school because the practice is not enough.
2) They teach chinese in Putonghua
3) There is one lesson of chinese everyday (40 mins)
4) Most of the kids have extra lesson outside, eg. Kumon, 直映.  However, I keep my boy away from it.

But RC is one of the top IS well-known for its Chinese teaching and learning.

For a truly international school, I'd say it's beyond my expectation --- quite good, as the local HK Chinese textbooks (in traditional Chi characters)are adopted with Chinese dictation work, vocabulary writing, sentence writing and Chi composition work...very similar to the learning practice of the local schools)

Of course, I must say that RC's Chinese standard is still below the local schools'...
