Who says SIS school life "isn't happy"?
SIS's PY and Primary are about building up strong foundation in languages, Science and Math, so the kids could face challenges easier when they head to Secondary and University.

True is it that since P4, Chinese and Science would become a bit challenging, but I still find my kids love going to school and attempting challenges in school work/projects.  In brief, if you believe your kids are intellectually capable, it is good to let them tap into the merits of SIS at younger ages, e.g. the much-cherished bilingual environment etc.

Thanks a lot for your information. (emoji) just only worry the teacher too focus about scores rather than whether the kids have try their best.

The core culture of SIS is to respect and care for all kids, regardless of their abilities and grades.  Those concern too much about the marks of the kids generally are parents.
Prizes presentation ceremony for academic awards are kept very low profile.  Generally, parents would not know who have got the awards unless it is their own kid.  High-achievers won't be branded as heroes; similarly, low-achievers won't be labelled as flops.

SIS for sure.

Have a niece that recently graduated from SIS and had multiple offers from top universities in the UK.   She had nothing but good things to say about the school.   It is very academic but teachers seem caring and she said she enjoyed her time there.

what if my kid is just not smart enough and consistently falls behind the standard?

at the recent open house at SIS the school principal said the school is "non selective" and would help/support those who are lagging behind ...something along that line... there was a lot of info so i don't remember how exactly he phrased it but the impression i took home was they wouldn't kick  (or "manage") you out just because you are, say, the bottom of the pile.

do you think that's really the case? thanks

Have some confidence in your child!   He's accomplished so much already just by getting accepted into two top international schools in Hong Kong.

Congrats! May you kindly share the kindy that your child went to? And what you think might be the key to successful interview at sis? We are targeting sis too. Sorry a bit off topic but would be grateful for your insight!

What the principal shared in the Open House truly reflected the real situation.

In fact, he said the same things to parents in general on some occassions before the Open House.

It is true that SIS would not persuade / kick out those under-performing kids in the past year.  This somewhat explained why the average IB scores in the past year would be a bit lower than expected.   It is good that the school adopts such lenient policy, but as parents, if you find your kids lagging behind the majority in SIS, it may be wiser to think of finding another more suitable school than staying and keeping lagging behind, for the sake of the kids' feeling/development etc.
